Why are we forgetting nuclear

2020-12-12 06:07:53 UTC

How well the solar cells work in North Dakota in the winter?

2020-12-12 06:08:03 UTC

Oh man... Please tell me this is a setup for a Trump v Palin showdown in 2024:

2020-12-12 06:08:05 UTC

Because nuclear takes more energy to build the reactor than you ever get out of it.

2020-12-12 06:08:10 UTC

Innovation is always possible with smart teams on the cutting edge. Unfortunately these billionaires are just rolling congress...for what??

2020-12-12 06:08:36 UTC

Yeah these aren't profitable ventures unless heavily subsidized...

2020-12-12 06:09:01 UTC

nuclear is a time bomb waiting to go off, look at fukushima.. or think of the waste it creates for generations, better tech can solve alot but its a hell of a way to boil water

2020-12-12 06:09:16 UTC

Without the subsidy they make no financial sense.

2020-12-12 06:09:27 UTC

That to..

2020-12-12 06:09:27 UTC

@busillis who said this would be private

2020-12-12 06:09:42 UTC

What.

2020-12-12 06:09:46 UTC

Nuclear is safe

2020-12-12 06:09:57 UTC

Are you guys aware of what happened during the Carrington event?

2020-12-12 06:10:02 UTC

Why subsidized? The 0.1%ers can certainly afford the risk.

2020-12-12 06:10:03 UTC

Don’t build you plants near oceans or fault lines

2020-12-12 06:10:28 UTC

Has the Carrington event happened now likely many of nuclear reactors in the affected area would melt down.

2020-12-12 06:10:31 UTC

safe unless you live next to it, look what happened in Japan, the plants need aux power to even be safe, as i said hell of a way to boil water

2020-12-12 06:11:29 UTC

Old building 1967 @busillis

2020-12-12 06:11:46 UTC

theres floods, earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, fires, asteroids, emp's, many reasons nuclear is not safe

2020-12-12 06:11:47 UTC

We have come far in terms of safety

2020-12-12 06:12:46 UTC

You can remove EMPs from that list.

2020-12-12 06:12:54 UTC

let alone creating toxic waste to hang around for generations, again, hell of a way to boil water

2020-12-12 06:13:00 UTC

The solar flare set telegraph wires on fire.

2020-12-12 06:13:17 UTC

a solar flare can cause an emp

90% of the population would likely be dead within the month.

2020-12-12 06:13:25 UTC

#spaceforce ha!

2020-12-12 06:13:42 UTC

CA will be fine... .We are leading the way with efforts to get solar panels on every roof in the future. Panel efficiency has been increasing steadily. Energy ROI is less than 5 years now - used to be 20+ years. It keeps getting batter and better. Could be less than 1 year in the next 2-3 generations.

2020-12-12 06:13:45 UTC

Being in space would probably be a very bad place to be.

2020-12-12 06:13:51 UTC

The sun is a risk that will always be @busillis

2020-12-12 06:13:56 UTC

its not even an if, its a when it happens, same with asteroids or comets

2020-12-12 06:14:20 UTC

True story...

2020-12-12 06:14:28 UTC

Court marshal Biden ASAP! Before it's too late!!

2020-12-12 06:14:30 UTC

Those might be cooked up numbers that don't account for the fact that I have at least subsidizes the input energy. But, if it makes you feel better.

2020-12-12 06:14:33 UTC

EMP is not a realistic threat to a nuclear reactor.

2020-12-12 06:14:35 UTC

For treason!

2020-12-12 06:15:00 UTC

If it shuts down the power grid it is...

2020-12-12 06:15:10 UTC

just flooding backup generators caused the multiple meltdown in Japan

2020-12-12 06:15:14 UTC

How do you think they circulate water over the spent fuel rods?

2020-12-12 06:15:22 UTC

Hand pumps?
