I mean I think the merit of the expert testimony comes down to what's your expertise in the specific field you are testifying to. Are you using industry standard methodology or if not can you show your own methodology and work. The kraken lineup seemed to fail these things. If that's not there how does one have a discussion on accuracy? They just put up charts and say something is wrong trust me?

No, rule number one about applying for a job with no degree/papers with big names, is never put something on your resume you can’t elaborate on or explain confidently. I’d rather be the self taught Dev who noticed irregularities and based on my YOE in the industry call out the issue then boost my credentials to improve the legitimacy of the claim.

Exactly. On this we agree. Although seeing how this has played out, my opinion is that they didn’t really expect to win with those cases, the whole play was to present the reasonable doubt to the legislature and public.
Opinion aside, I agree, that really hurt them. It’s just like in math class where if you couldn’t show how you got the right answer you got 0 points. You’ve gotta show the methodology.
