Getting people on the right worked up about fake or overblown socialist/communist tendencies on the left. And getting those on the left worked up about fake/overblown racist/fascist tendencies on the right... Means that we aren't focusing on the fact that the real enemy to American prosperity is (for lack of a better term) the corporatist oligarchy that is responsible for the greatest wealth disparity in probably history. We are distracted by nonsense so we don't realize that we are all getting the shaft. That's a crude paraphrasing of the issue, but you get the idea.
