(I am 100% joking, I think everyone should take at least one philosophy class 😉
I took enough that they said if I took 2 more I would be awarded a second Bachelors degree.
@Gypsy, you just advanced to level 6!
And I still passed.
Meaning I passed on the second degree.
The Cost of Framing can get expensive!....lol
It’s highly subjective in how it’s taught, which is unfortunate but necessary - much more professor-dependent than content-dependent
Nothing in relation to the cost of the degree itself, tbh
It's like $200-$400 to $40 000+
That makes a lot of sense to me, thank you! I’m guessing research and experiment procedures and controls and other hard science approaches are part of the MS curriculum.
Agree. I was lucky enough to receive a Fellowship.
And most degrees will be like $120 000+
That would only leave me with $200 after this stimulus package
Yes heavy on Math and Statistics.
It was just difficult to read Marx seriously and then go do economics homework. The only classes I liked were eastern philosophy classes which really could have been religious classes. Also the intro classes where we read Humes and Locke. I didn’t care for Kant, Hegel, etc. I thought it was interesting how they thought but also so impractical. I went to school when I was 27 so I wasn’t as abstract as most of the other students.
Marx had quite a few valid critiques of capitalism, it perhaps saved capitalism in the long run.
Psychology is probably the most well respected social science in economics. The least is def sociology. I think sociology and economics are in a Cold War of sorts.
And it's the best approach to reading Marx in my opinion. Have to take it with a grain of salt.
Sure, I read Marx on my own and liked some of it. But like you said, the professor dictates the course. So if they say we are gonna waste a term on labor theory of value .... well that’s what we are doing.
Maybe @blueorbit said that, either way points the same.
I just find it ironic that Marx is the one that perhaps saved capitalism and prevented bastardized authoritarian versions of his vision from overtaking every economy in the world.
A Psychiatrist may disagree with you!....lol
A psychiatrist isn't a social scientist.
Every psychiatrist I know is wrong.
They would be very angry if you suggested otherwise.
Don’t psychiatrists deal with medicine? I am not familiar with psychiatry tbh.
Diagnosis and treatment yes.
I was talking about respect....lol I do know the difference.
Right and so it seems that both of us are mistaken about what debt monetization really is. What would been enlightening is if @Gypsy had told us that no according to MMT debt monetization is really this. And what you are calling debt monetization is more properly termed as such and such. And the difference it is so and so.
E.g: Psychiatrist diagnosis, sends patient to a psychologist for mental exercises.
Yes a M.D. Or D.O.
I see, I was speaking from the POV of economics. There is enough overlap that economist tend to respect a lot of the work in psychology. Behavioral economics is really the marriage fo the two. It wasn’t always that way but it has changed to be a better relationship.
But sociology is generally ..... not well respected. For one, their best ideas came from an economist.
Gotta remember, Psychiatrists can prescribe medication.
If you can do that, you're probably a doctor.
Psychiatrists are medical doctors, psychologists are not. Psychiatrists prescribe medication, psychologists can't. Psychiatrists diagnose illness, manage treatment and provide a range of therapies for complex and serious mental illness. Psychologists focus on providing psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help patients.
We have a lot of doctors here. Every other block. Selling plants. And pipes. And gummies.
Doctor != Medical doctor.
Physician
Hence why dermatologists require a medical degree.
They also prescribe medication.
