In Germany they're talking about making them mandatory since ages, but it never happens
I remember most of the pro-school-uniform people argued that it would cut-out differences in social status of the children by making them all wear the same, instead of some wearing brands and some wearing cheap clothes
but I was one of those children who always had cheap clothes and was never bothered because of that by other children
I'm not sure how much of a real-world problem it is/was
makes the kids look sharp, has them represent the school and its one less thing to think about
