2016-07-29 01:12:41 UTC

dunno why they got rid of it

2016-07-29 01:12:46 UTC

was the best ikea desk system ever

2016-07-29 01:12:49 UTC

and they discontinued it

2016-07-29 01:12:51 UTC

also im pretty sure since im not modifying it so have that little uhhh, almost C shape near the bottom of it, It'll be 2 feet deep

2016-07-29 01:13:11 UTC

werher you getting surface from?

2016-07-29 01:13:18 UTC

or you making surface?

2016-07-29 01:13:31 UTC

is it the galant megadesk? lol

2016-07-29 01:13:50 UTC

I'm planning on buying it from the home depot i have across the street

2016-07-29 01:14:38 UTC

ah

2016-07-29 01:14:52 UTC

in that case sounds like a good idea

2016-07-29 01:15:07 UTC

to be honest, if i had power tools when imoved, and a nearby ikea, i totally would have done this

2016-07-29 01:15:14 UTC

but i'm nto complaining

2016-07-29 01:15:21 UTC

90 bucks for a easy to build l desk

2016-07-29 01:15:25 UTC

is like a god tier deal.

2016-07-29 01:16:01 UTC

i found that when i searched for the galant system desk, the GALANT MEGADESK

2016-07-29 01:16:02 UTC

lol

2016-07-29 01:17:14 UTC

i had the bottom L portion of the galant for college

2016-07-29 01:17:17 UTC

10/10 best desk

2016-07-29 01:17:18 UTC

ever

2016-07-29 01:17:18 UTC

i very much wanna do what they have there, where you have the part of the desk the keyboard / mouse, books etc are on, and then the shelf slightly above it

2016-07-29 01:20:43 UTC

I'm pretty sure I could get away with it, since what im looking at is 3/4 inch 2 foot x 4 foot, I could just move up to the 4 foot x 8 foot, have it cut to 4x4 and then shave 1 foot off for each of the little shelves that would be above the part of the desk with my keyboard, I'd have a couple spare 1 foot x 4 foot pieces that I wouldn't know what to do with though

2016-07-29 01:23:50 UTC

yeah, actually, one 4 foot x 8 foot is for some reason, cheaper than two 2 foot x 4 foot even though the 4 foot x 8 foot is twice the size of the two smaller ones put together...

2016-07-29 01:24:22 UTC

could also buy particle board

2016-07-29 01:24:35 UTC

and then get a surface to laminate/wood glue on top of it

2016-07-29 01:24:36 UTC

then cut it

2016-07-29 01:25:27 UTC

I was looking at MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is a bit sturdier, but basically the same thing

2016-07-29 01:26:20 UTC

I'm worried about priming it, because i've heard if you use the wrong one you'll make it poof up cause of how it reacts to water.

2016-07-29 01:27:13 UTC

oh yeah? in that case i have no idea, but I'd imagine wiht sufficient clamping, shouldnt' be an issue

2016-07-29 01:32:18 UTC

i assume one quart will be over kill for a single desk, but $8 for a can of primer isn't too bad, between the MDF, legs, and primer I'm looking at about $60, and then I need the little stilt things for the shelf above the main desk, and I couldn't say what those would cost since I don't know what im looking for on that front yet

2016-07-29 02:06:22 UTC

tiny padlock for 50p

2016-07-29 02:06:42 UTC

looks incredibly flimsy

2016-07-29 02:06:58 UTC

still gonna buy it though, for gym locker

2016-07-29 02:20:46 UTC

I had an old desk, hated it so i painted it black chucked some Kmart Dinner plate mats on it, about 6, now it has that nice IKEA fake leather look

2016-07-29 02:44:18 UTC

does anyone here have any experience with making power banks

2016-07-29 03:49:53 UTC

IKEA still do bekant

2016-07-29 03:49:59 UTC

That stuff is pretty dank too

2016-07-29 03:50:08 UTC
