I do a lot of reading on desk
>med school problems
I'd have my laptop and some programming books on there more than likely
also these are the legs in the picture
oh wow
those are chepa
i was look at the other ones
all 15 plus
i still miss the fuck out of the galant system
dunno why they got rid of it
was the best ikea desk system ever
and they discontinued it
also im pretty sure since im not modifying it so have that little uhhh, almost C shape near the bottom of it, It'll be 2 feet deep
werher you getting surface from?
or you making surface?
is it the galant megadesk? lol
I'm planning on buying it from the home depot i have across the street
ah
in that case sounds like a good idea
but i'm nto complaining
90 bucks for a easy to build l desk
is like a god tier deal.
i found that when i searched for the galant system desk, the GALANT MEGADESK
lol
i had the bottom L portion of the galant for college
10/10 best desk
ever
i very much wanna do what they have there, where you have the part of the desk the keyboard / mouse, books etc are on, and then the shelf slightly above it
I'm pretty sure I could get away with it, since what im looking at is 3/4 inch 2 foot x 4 foot, I could just move up to the 4 foot x 8 foot, have it cut to 4x4 and then shave 1 foot off for each of the little shelves that would be above the part of the desk with my keyboard, I'd have a couple spare 1 foot x 4 foot pieces that I wouldn't know what to do with though
yeah, actually, one 4 foot x 8 foot is for some reason, cheaper than two 2 foot x 4 foot even though the 4 foot x 8 foot is twice the size of the two smaller ones put together...
could also buy particle board
and then get a surface to laminate/wood glue on top of it
then cut it
I was looking at MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is a bit sturdier, but basically the same thing
I'm worried about priming it, because i've heard if you use the wrong one you'll make it poof up cause of how it reacts to water.
oh yeah? in that case i have no idea, but I'd imagine wiht sufficient clamping, shouldnt' be an issue
i assume one quart will be over kill for a single desk, but $8 for a can of primer isn't too bad, between the MDF, legs, and primer I'm looking at about $60, and then I need the little stilt things for the shelf above the main desk, and I couldn't say what those would cost since I don't know what im looking for on that front yet
