2016-08-22 19:00:36 UTC

Funny how everyone says it's amd that has the issues, but my 7950 was perfect.

2016-08-22 19:01:32 UTC

Maybe because it's older I didn't have any issues.

2016-08-22 19:02:21 UTC

Hopefully my new shit will work

2016-08-22 19:02:27 UTC

RX 470

2016-08-22 19:02:35 UTC

Inb4 dont

2016-08-22 19:02:46 UTC

it's not going to work

2016-08-22 19:05:37 UTC

@Valkrys The meme is that AMD cards have no drivers

2016-08-22 19:06:22 UTC

But well, the experience can vary alot, depending on what you typically play

2016-08-22 19:08:07 UTC

I tried on old ATI cards using the open xorg and it worked fine

2016-08-22 19:08:20 UTC

Well, I just meant on Linux. Ayy I got an rx 470 on the way. Missed out on the gigabyte one because retarded waitfag. So I jumped on the msi one.

2016-08-22 19:08:44 UTC

Bought the sapphire one since MSI isnt in stock before some days

2016-08-22 19:08:53 UTC

My 7950 has been fucking faithful to me though, man.

2016-08-22 19:08:57 UTC

about the same performance anyway

2016-08-22 19:09:52 UTC

I've always had Sapphire cards. But I wanted one with an 8 pin power connector. Only brands that did that were gigabyte, powercolor and msi. The Asus ones were in stock for days since apparently Noone wants them.

2016-08-22 19:10:52 UTC

What

2016-08-22 19:11:04 UTC

1 x 8-pin AUX Power Connector

2016-08-22 19:11:10 UTC

says so on the item I ordered

2016-08-22 19:11:20 UTC

For a Sapphire rx470?

2016-08-22 19:12:13 UTC

Oh shit it does.

2016-08-22 19:12:24 UTC

Oh well, it's been out of stock this whole time.

2016-08-22 19:12:39 UTC

Well here it was in stock the MSI one was like arrives new stock 6 August

2016-08-22 19:12:47 UTC

So the most logical choice was Sapphire am I right?

2016-08-22 19:13:01 UTC

You got a 4 or 8 GB?

2016-08-22 19:13:25 UTC

Don't see the point in saving some money on the 4 GB model

2016-08-22 19:13:32 UTC

gotta have those nicer textures

2016-08-22 19:14:15 UTC

Didn't see the point on paying an extra 50$ on the 8gb.

2016-08-22 19:14:40 UTC

Yeah the 4 GB should be good enough if you are happy with normal textures

2016-08-22 19:14:49 UTC

But if you want higher ones you need more memory

2016-08-22 19:14:53 UTC

I plan on this just being a placeholder card anyways, the 7950 is going into a build for my nephew.

2016-08-22 19:16:05 UTC

So you waiting for HBM2 cards?

2016-08-22 19:16:15 UTC

Kinda yeah.

2016-08-22 19:16:32 UTC

AMD might be able to actually compete with Intel soon

2016-08-22 19:16:39 UTC

As Intel can't really upgrade much more with current CPUs

2016-08-22 19:16:43 UTC

but AMD can

2016-08-22 19:16:43 UTC

I also needed one to play with for research on future builds a friend and I are planning.

2016-08-22 19:17:05 UTC

Gonna try and make some monies building computers on the side.

2016-08-22 19:18:49 UTC

Did you see that video from the closed viewing amd had?

2016-08-22 19:20:17 UTC

Zen 8 core engineering sample was a hair faster than 6900k in a blender image rendering clock for clock @3ghz.
