maybe from being in a tall building
no idea
try a cheap ducky swap first
if you have a repeater nearby use that as a reference
yeah the most I can pick up reliably is a childrens hospital and a local taxi service
would like to boost it up
since those are right outside
guessing you've been here https://www.ukrepeater.net/index.html
yeah man got them all written down
I put the ham radio stuff on the backburner to work on my vintage videos
come back to it at some point, baofeng and rtl-sdr are gathering dust
i mean, same; I never bothered to do HF stuff since, you know, the Internet exists. but it'd be cool to try to send signals over the atlantic or something
yeah I'd like to get my license
and learn more about it
I have a yaesu, puxing and baofeng vhf/uhf radios and tbh they're close in performance with stock antennae
the SDR sucks tho, that definitely could use tweaking
I used to have a realistic scanner but sold it recently
far too complicated to program
it was like doing a konami code every time you wanted to change signal
it's pointless if you have a usb sdr
OTOH a HF Icom setup is really nice
I dream of finding one at a thrift shop for < $100
ham radio stuff is mega expensive yeah
pension wipers
I think you'll see more soon, the ham radio generation is already pretty old
once they start to die the thrift shops will have more
seems like it's all 70s stuff that's lining the shops now
heh yea, it's nothing but oldies on all the repeaters around me and I live around NYC
yeah all the feedback I got on that hacker radio video were from hams
little callsign at the bottom
unf
this sub is actually pretty okay
needs a freq cut off tho
i worked with a bunch of hams when i first graduated; they're really knowledgable but it feels like talking to some possible future self that never kept updated with technology. like, they were afraid of digital logic
it's late so i like to ramble
I'm listening beb
rabling is good
there's some shit I'd wanna buy like https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mini-DDS-Function-Signal-Source-Generator-Digital-Signal-Generator-Dual-channel-Arbitrary-Waveform-Frequency-Meter200MSa-s/32670105894.html but lol IDK if it's any good; this is cheaper than a demoboard from Analog Devices
oh shit http://www.dalbert.net/?p=322
