standard D-cell has 4 ish Amphours (from top of my head iirc) at 1.5v (or 12Wh if you will ?

2019-08-31 19:53:10 UTC

I could check again, but I think it's closer to 15 for alkaline, and 4 for rechargeables.

2019-08-31 19:53:51 UTC

yeah might be that im remembering zinc-carb ones as herpderp

2019-08-31 19:54:04 UTC

but even alkalines are at 20ish Wh

2019-08-31 19:54:47 UTC

figuring out how much playroom you have here after the panel draws what ever it wants (full bright colorblend continous animation case ?)

2019-08-31 19:55:12 UTC

It's been a few months since I looked last, but I remember mathing out that the TV would run for maybe 6 hours with no other power draw, and I was thinking about half that time if I really maxed out an SBC.

2019-08-31 19:55:21 UTC

so getting that what 15ish Ahs out of it

2019-08-31 19:55:51 UTC

It was going to be black-and-white TV at whatever shit resolution 😂

2019-08-31 19:57:35 UTC

Look, in any case, I know for a fact that a Raspberry Pi 4 can pull just over 7 Watts at full chooch, and I have no idea whatsoever what the Rock64 draws since no one wants to fucking talk about it, if they already own one.

2019-08-31 19:58:22 UTC

look at spec sheets?

2019-08-31 19:58:37 UTC

5v 3A suggested supply

2019-08-31 19:58:58 UTC

>>> ROCK64 require +5V 3A power supply with Type H 3.5mm OD/1.35mm ID barrel ‘coaxial’ type plug. The power supply available in PINE64 store.

2019-08-31 19:59:01 UTC

I don't recall the power for just the board; just the suggested power like Tervy says.

2019-08-31 19:59:38 UTC

That's totally inaccurate to the board's actual use, since it takes into account maximum draw from all of the available USB ports, too.

2019-08-31 19:59:59 UTC

Of course the Pi 4 doesn't burn fifteen fucking watts at full use.

2019-08-31 20:00:01 UTC

sure but youl be using that to calculate

2019-08-31 20:00:05 UTC

not optimal scenario

2019-08-31 20:00:17 UTC

so you get free safety margins if nothing else

2019-08-31 20:00:43 UTC

Sure, I just wish someone would measure the actual draw. I've only ever found quotes for the suggested draw from the spec sheet.

2019-08-31 20:01:08 UTC

XU4 has recommended 5V4A and (5v6A when usb3 HDD)

2019-08-31 20:01:40 UTC

Actual draw tho <:pepeturt:499291994649133067> someday

Hello, I'm a retard. I got everything I needed for a diy solar panel, decided against buying tabbing wire because lol it's just a nickel strip. Tried doing it with 0.5mm copper wire, shit was fuck, too thick, pain in the ass to tin the wire, too stiff, cells broke. Ok, wanted to do it quick, bought a nickel strip locally. Of course it was too hard to do proper research and it's a plain nickel strip, not a tinned one. Too wide, too, so I had to cut it with scissors. Managed to tab 4 cells out of 36 needed before ragequitting and ordering proper tabbing wire from China

2019-08-31 20:04:12 UTC

so yeah time to get that amp-meter and strap it to that TV

2019-08-31 20:04:14 UTC

to check the thing

2019-08-31 20:04:17 UTC

I just wanted a fucking solar panel for summer

2019-08-31 20:04:24 UTC

Now it's gonna be ready for winter

2019-08-31 20:05:08 UTC

be cheap get cheap

2019-08-31 20:05:09 UTC

:D

2019-08-31 20:09:47 UTC

Yeah

2019-08-31 20:10:16 UTC

Since it was relatively simple to tin the nickel wire, I think I won't have many problems with tabbing cells with proper wire

2019-08-31 20:10:23 UTC

So now I'm eyeing bigger cells

2019-08-31 20:19:37 UTC

Not like the sun stops existing in the winter.

2019-08-31 20:20:15 UTC

Can get a surprising amount of energy from solar panels in the winter.

2019-08-31 20:20:45 UTC

muh solar power

2019-08-31 20:21:13 UTC

oh look

2019-08-31 20:21:17 UTC

the boomer fears renewable energy

2019-08-31 20:22:52 UTC

ghostwriter.

2019-08-31 20:24:09 UTC

@androidcrawler im all for renewable energy but allocating huge plots of land just for solar panels is a massive waste of space

2019-08-31 20:24:29 UTC

To be fair how renewable are solar panals compared to nuclear

2019-08-31 20:24:47 UTC

the efficiency is increasing
