That's fine m8
I have an "open source" one
elaborate
Can't remember its name
Oh right
Touch Lux
like, open source from the ground up? or custom firmware or something
I *think* it's custom whatever using a shit ton of open source
But take it with a pinch of salt
i bought a kindle 4/5 NT used
its pretty good
like my physical buttons
the point with it is you can customize it very easily (custom apps & shit) and it doesn't really care about locking you into proprietary format
Also physical buttons
(but also touch screen at the same time)
And kinda cheap, I think I got mine around 80 euromarks
the fact that i can't read epub is annoying but i just convert to epub or azw or whatever the new format is
i got mine for like £20 or something
The main problem is... well it's a hassle to read manga and such
yeah, i read oyasumi punpun on my k4 for some reason
I mainly read manga because I'm a *weeb*
Sure, whenever I read a *real book*, I like to read it on it
it was eh
But for everything else, it's "meh" at best
Controls are unresponsive, zooming in is a royal PITA, and the DPI is not enough to be comfortable for reading small characters (and that happens a lot)
In the end I bought a Fire 8" HD (replaced my Fire 7 that I bought for 30 euromarks)
I only use this one
I use comicrack, synchronize what I read with my PC
And it just works™
And as much as I'd like to go full e-ink reading for my mangos, I just can't see it happening anytime soon
Those things run on potato CPU so any kind of image transformation is gonna be sluggish
And high DPI / big screen are way too expensive for that
I can do without color, though it would be a plus
But all those problems have been there since... well the first kindle
And I don't see those being fixed anytime soon
i think its doable imo
wouldnt mind too much
anyway i dont like LCD much because eye fatigue, sure we have blue light filters but i always prefer e-ink
also battery life is a big deal
It's doable but it's not done, it's been technically feasible for years but nobody do that
And idk why
There's a market for that
Not a big one, yeah, but there's one
And battery life isn't that much of a big deal honestly
