Drop him
boomers be boomers
Like for real find tallest cliff and drop him
"Linux is good for old people" is such a fucking meme
yeah "its so easy to use linux, to install this program all you need to do is just open up terminal and type in sudo apt get fuckmyass.avi and then to have permission to use it you need to do this x terminal command and then y and then z"
^ literally every code monkey linux user who has no idea what user friendliness is
--description of arch linux 2019
And if you can't do that, you should LITERALLY just not use a computer @Phatique
mmm how closely kmail resembles live mail GUI wise
hell i dont even remember how the kmail looks
yeah dont you just love to have to type in some terminal commands you need to google because it dosent work when you install the program
pressing on .exe files and following a wizard is easier for 99% of people, however linux users dont get it
thankfully most of mainstream distros have aged beyond those times
sure its still somehow easier and simple to install sofware from commandline than from GUI
but giving GUI to person who still uses XP and livemail is more favorable option than power of commandline
99% of people disagree, only your /gents/ prefer cmd/terminal
i mean if i know what im searcing terminal + command is simply faster than opening bloat what is called debians installer thing :D
faster dosent mean easier
sure stuff like native KDE discover on plasma desktop and even appcenter are way nicer these days
than what ever drugs debian devs had when they spinned that horrible package manager up
ask normal pc user how to install a program, they will not think opening up a terminal and typing in commands
they will not even know the basic commands
if my computer illiterate mom can do it after receiving single text message
anyone can
:D
but indeed i knew what system it was and copy pasting text from phone screen to command line is way easier
but sure i would not let my mum search apps on her own
i mean she has "files, help, phone, internet, mail, radio" shortcuts on desktop
and so far i get calls only if something major has porkked after automated update script
so rarely than once a year
most of the time computer is not even on when the update check is supposed to go off so...
but i agree that for more computer illiterate generations its indeed easier for them to use GUI
tervy has a mom?
ok you can bring on your anecdotes that your mom can handle linux "then everyone should be able to".
However if you claim linux is more user friendly than windows/OSX you're just delusional.
but considering generic OS-base programs what stuff like ubuntu, mintmanjaro, elementary, fedora have id say they rarely even need to install extra
i claimed they have come long way what they used to be on userfriendliness
to the point standard people(old and young) sometimes(it happens) even prefer them when given chance to test them
where it used to be "too confusing/ugly/afraid of change"
hardest part is the setup for all new enviroment for people
they dont know the linux world programs that well (Specialy if they want separate mail client/use only what came with the OS)
