Twitch youtube
no official client
and first 3rd party option pushes its own ads to your face before every stream
and other one costs 1 dollar (no ads tho)
versus android box what has multiple clients (like synapse)
and ofc random apps == random security
considering you are logging in tru them
:/
but you can cast twitch from browser to roku if you really want
similary to android too
<:chink:323022148870602752>
but if you have ~70usd to throw at it you can check out if xiaomi mi box <:benis:239668961011040257>
that thing can push 4k 60fps (barely but it can if the codec/file/input is perfectly done)
<:chink:323022148870602752>
but yeah check what apps the "android TV" supports
it does not have 1:1 support to whole android universe apps
but only "android tv" apps
afaik
there might be some workaround these days, i dont actively follow those circles
there @soddomist
the most used list
and ofc KODI opens even more doors
apparently the new thing has ups and downs to it
(updated month+ ago so there might be additional bugfixes already
nothing game breaking but more info = you know what you are buying
most problems seem to be the dolby audio 5.1 support and no spdif
I don’t want to mess with kodi. Tried this shit on raspberry pi.
and some minor annoyances
kodi is nice but needs some beef behind it
and a lot of pre-setup
I just wanted to watch some YouTube , twitch and maybe play some games
does roku even have games ?
but yeah for you it seems like android tv options like said mi box seem to be better investment
I thought about used Apple TV
apparently mi box does have stardew valley lol
i was wondering if android tv has any games either
and then there seems to be some emulators too
quite neat
