🤔
but...y
Reprogrammed keys and backlighting, like it says?
alright yes, this is an upgrade for a magicforce 68, but chances are if you're the type of consumer whose interesting in buying pcb's for mechanical keyboards you wouldn't go out of your way to buy a pcb to do a replacement
you'd just buy a pcb and make a brand new keyboard, because it'd be more convenient and a better investment of your time
for $40 you're paying for:
1) junk keycaps
2) junk switches
3) strange 60-ish% layout
then you have to spend $10 for the pcb and $5 for a microcontroller and maybe some more bucks for something like LED lighting and a couple of hours in desoldering the old magicforce 68 (being sure not to melt anything), and resassembling it with the new pcb and features but same shitty keycaps, switches, and strange layout
for $40 you're paying for:
1) plastic
2) meme switches
3) not even 100% keyboard but 60% what you bought cause you thought it makes ladies like you more
ftfy
anyway the fact that someone went out and designed this pcb and had it go and get produced makes no sense
its easier and better to to this type of thing from scratch
make pcb from scratch then pay big money to someone to make case to fit that shit only to realises your keycaps are wrong size
not literally from scratch, i mean buying bare kit parts and assembling it together
I mean, sure. But people get really, really autistic about stuff.
See: audiophiles and cinema snobs
Something being a good financial value proposition isn't the be-all end-all determination on if it's worth it to someone
your better off just getting a tada68 or something
that's what im saying
I don't disagree, I'm just saying
Also, what is the consensus on the "group buy" function that Ali has now?
@Windatica smaller keeb = bigger dick
i don't get how people do it
60% is already pushing it
60% is my sweet spot tbh
I need a numpad for the vidya I play
i like dedicated function keys so id opt for tkl or 70% but what i really want are cheap 70%'s with decent switches
and i don't want to diy because a pcb is $30 at the minimum
prob never lol
its okay i'll build two 40%'s and attach em together

this looks hot
kailh choc-low profile switches on a 96 key bluetooth keyboard for like 350 yuan
if only there was a way to ship it globally without getting fucked
i think there's oems of this out
if i can find it
really? that'd be neat
compact full-size is truly the sexiest option
