yes we have fridges already

2019-06-22 09:07:52 UTC

they are quite neat and efficient

2019-06-22 09:08:33 UTC

no no no sir, small scale, for one can of coke in similar aluminum cup

2019-06-22 09:09:10 UTC

I actually have something tiny I want to keep cool long term but not in the fridge. Do those little peltier single can fridges actually work?

2019-06-22 09:09:50 UTC

what if I'm gaming for 36hrs and have like 24 cans of coke on standby for my vidya marathon, I don't want to leave my bedroom to head to the kitchen, that's what I need this for badly

2019-06-22 09:10:01 UTC

@timsandtoms that's what I want to know

2019-06-22 09:10:50 UTC

My Lowe's is clearancing some mini fridges, get that, doubles as your TV stand, and you can put your 360 in it to mitigate RRoD

2019-06-22 09:12:24 UTC

I'm not a console bro

2019-06-22 09:13:57 UTC

i fucking draw it for you

2019-06-22 09:13:59 UTC

....

2019-06-22 09:14:50 UTC

also you should not game for 36 hours its extremely unhealthy for body

2019-06-22 09:14:57 UTC

those steps might be only thing saving you...

2019-06-22 09:15:41 UTC

but if you really have 24 cans just get one of mini compressor camping fridges/coolers/freezers

2019-06-22 09:16:50 UTC

this type is still inefficient? if I ran tubes from it to the cans, liquid inside tubes, wouldn't cool can down 40F or whatever in minutes?

2019-06-22 09:17:11 UTC

just fucking no

2019-06-22 09:17:36 UTC

also that block for sure as heck aint foodsafe

2019-06-22 09:17:56 UTC

``` Peltiers only have 10-15% Carnot efficiency, using 50 watts you can move a net ~3 watts of heat, less your design inefficiencies.```
2019-06-22 09:18:01 UTC
to quote my notepad
2019-06-22 09:18:19 UTC
oh, god, they're that bad?
2019-06-22 09:18:28 UTC
YES THEY ARE FUCKING BAD
2019-06-22 09:20:47 UTC
i dont mean to sound mean or agressive over this but "usable peltier usecases" as book is shorter than french war victories
2019-06-22 09:21:29 UTC
and shitty compressor coolers/fridges cost 100~ish dollars these days
2019-06-22 09:21:40 UTC
and can provide tons of more value
2019-06-22 09:22:50 UTC
and if you look at the bottom of the can the peltiers main cooling wont even reach anything else but the really really small surface area there
2019-06-22 09:23:18 UTC
thus the holder is needed part for it.. and even then it kills the efficiency to sub 1 watt most likely what eventualy reaches the can
2019-06-22 09:26:15 UTC
even getting party cooler and dry-ice for the cans is more valid option
2019-06-22 09:26:20 UTC
than those
2019-06-22 09:26:22 UTC
:D
2019-06-22 09:28:16 UTC
my second pair of VE monks are failing. I like their sound better than other brands, so I'm buying the cheapest braided cable earphones on aliexpress to replace the wires
2019-06-22 09:29:08 UTC
@uuuu <#365921969004216320> might have proper cables only option for you too (dunno how much more expensive its compared to cheapest earphones)
2019-06-22 09:30:47 UTC
@ikillu Peltier cooler is one of those things what is every studying engineers "magic bullet to everything" until they got more and more education they learn how shitty they are.... and some dont believe it or smell money on it still and try to launch shitty products just to cash people
2019-06-22 09:31:21 UTC
yea, there was a kickstarter project, guy backs it gets product, uses it, and it just dropped temp of can not even 20F lol
2019-06-22 09:31:32 UTC
just read that now, thanks for opening my eyes
2019-06-22 09:33:28 UTC
it'll probably sit on there 24hrs, 50w lol to make it cool, not even cold
2019-06-22 09:33:45 UTC
50*24 W
2019-06-22 09:33:51 UTC
to not properly cool a can
2019-06-22 09:34:01 UTC
yep sounds about right
2019-06-22 09:34:03 UTC
yea, .20 or so in electricity LOL
2019-06-22 09:34:08 UTC
cents
2019-06-22 09:35:02 UTC
peltiers need darn good cooling on themselves and they need giant walls of insulation and door what is well insulated to keep things cool
