The answer to that is probably supporting local initiatives that seek to improve environment. The ultimate goal is less reliance on fossil fuels and less waste

@Toshi Installing solar panels should start getting less expensive. I know it is becoming a more popular market where I am at. There are numerous job offers on marketing solar panels for housing popping up
