The Aristotelian approach to arguing is broken anyways

2019-06-18 22:31:18 UTC

It was intended to change the opinion of an undeciding audience not your opponent

2019-06-18 22:32:16 UTC

I have noticed when I win a disagreement it is best to end the discussion and perhaps speak of it in a week or two. Not that I won just about the same thing carefully to not cause a problem.

2019-06-18 22:32:55 UTC

@Hamburger Guy I tend to agree with that. In order to become well versed on any subject that is polarizing like this, you should not only learn your own position, but your opponent's as well. In addition to the common arguments/counter arguments that both sides use.

Most people do not handle it well when a serious belief is proven false.

2019-06-18 22:33:39 UTC

I changed a lot of my beliefs in the last 2 years

2019-06-18 22:33:46 UTC

It is really hard ngl

2019-06-18 22:33:56 UTC

2019-06-18 22:34:33 UTC

I believe very little that I believed 8 years ago. And I am 66. For 58 years I stuck with beliefs and would not even question was I correct in those beliefs.

2019-06-18 22:35:26 UTC

Yeah welp I'm 14 and my dad is a truther and I became a flat earthers when I was around 8

2019-06-18 22:35:49 UTC

I figured people were stupid if they disagreed. Stupid thought process.

2019-06-18 22:35:53 UTC

I feel like the odd man out lol.

2019-06-18 22:36:03 UTC

I used to feel physical pain when hearing a point against my world view

2019-06-18 22:36:37 UTC

Ppl ask me, Hey what are your believes, I say flat Earth and they just go off on me

2019-06-18 22:37:06 UTC

If ain't a BELIEF it's a FACT you NORMIE

2019-06-18 22:37:07 UTC

I so wish I had had the internet at 14. It was so limited back then. Libraries and such. I now know that what is in them is highly restricted.

2019-06-18 22:37:10 UTC

So you're FE but your dad is not?

2019-06-18 22:37:25 UTC

America burns books on a daily basis.

2019-06-18 22:37:27 UTC

FE is not fact. It's just a very large misunderstanding.

2019-06-18 22:37:41 UTC

Half of my local library is young adult

2019-06-18 22:37:53 UTC

@GandalfTheGreen Doesn't the green wizard in LOTR have another name?

2019-06-18 22:38:38 UTC

Missing a colon

2019-06-18 22:38:38 UTC

Lol

2019-06-18 22:38:55 UTC

Me and my dad believe in lots of stuffs

2019-06-18 22:39:31 UTC

Most who are Flat Earth do believe the earth is flat and that is a easily proven fact.

2019-06-18 22:39:32 UTC

My dad is voting for Bill deBlasio for president

2019-06-18 22:39:55 UTC

@Rainbow Rose You shouldn't believe something just because your dad does. Mine believes that ketchup, mac and cheese and hotdogs are some kind of culinary masterpiece. They are not.

2019-06-18 22:40:00 UTC

Still. Seems to me he has gone downhill.

2019-06-18 22:40:19 UTC

24 is so many to compete against.

2019-06-18 22:40:46 UTC

How much of mainstream history do you guys believe in

2019-06-18 22:40:51 UTC

0

2019-06-18 22:41:05 UTC

@PhoenixAshes I do alot of my own research, You can just say my dad started me on flat earth

2019-06-18 22:41:06 UTC

Indo European Invasions?

2019-06-18 22:41:33 UTC

No you should not believe just because dad does. However you might be better if you pretend to believe as he believes. You can learn a lot from an older person as well.

2019-06-18 22:41:40 UTC

Some things in history might be disputed, but not everything.

2019-06-18 22:42:20 UTC

I think it best to dispute it all. Question it all. Find out what really is true and what is not true.
