2019-06-18 22:24:16 UTC

@Steve Angell That sounds like it can go both ways though.

2019-06-18 22:24:23 UTC

we havin a smashing convo

2019-06-18 22:24:29 UTC

I can't believe they actually have a flat Earth group

2019-06-18 22:24:55 UTC

Yes it can. Though most of the time a flat earther will mention why they believe.

2019-06-18 22:25:32 UTC

This place seems real chill.

2019-06-18 22:25:39 UTC

It is.

2019-06-18 22:25:46 UTC

ik but I mean, so many ppl don't wanna hear flat earthers opinions

2019-06-18 22:25:46 UTC

People here are really nice.

2019-06-18 22:25:53 UTC

Here I have not seen anyone try to prove the curve of the earth.

2019-06-18 22:26:05 UTC

Thank goodness

2019-06-18 22:26:30 UTC

@Steve Angell sorry to disappoint

2019-06-18 22:26:47 UTC

That debate usually deteriorates to one or two points that never really go anywhere

2019-06-18 22:26:53 UTC

Fine with me. Just saying honest discussions.

2019-06-18 22:27:25 UTC

@PhoenixAshes true dat

2019-06-18 22:27:29 UTC

Yeah, honest and civil discussions.

2019-06-18 22:27:59 UTC

That is fine as long as it then ends. No one needs to win. Differing beliefs is fine. We all think differently.

2019-06-18 22:28:43 UTC

Yeah, it is not what we believe the shape of what we live on, but how we live our lives.

2019-06-18 22:28:58 UTC

Yes

2019-06-18 22:29:52 UTC

@Seeker of Truth I saw that.

2019-06-18 22:29:56 UTC

It took me three years to believe the earth was flat after someone I saw as a role model on religion said it was flat. I never forgot how much she believed it was flat.

2019-06-18 22:30:28 UTC

Someone's not subtle.

2019-06-18 22:30:48 UTC

Uh oh

2019-06-18 22:30:56 UTC

Don't ban me, Holmes.

2019-06-18 22:30:57 UTC

The Aristotelian approach to arguing is broken anyways

2019-06-18 22:31:18 UTC

It was intended to change the opinion of an undeciding audience not your opponent

2019-06-18 22:32:16 UTC

I have noticed when I win a disagreement it is best to end the discussion and perhaps speak of it in a week or two. Not that I won just about the same thing carefully to not cause a problem.

2019-06-18 22:32:55 UTC

@Hamburger Guy I tend to agree with that. In order to become well versed on any subject that is polarizing like this, you should not only learn your own position, but your opponent's as well. In addition to the common arguments/counter arguments that both sides use.

2019-06-18 22:33:12 UTC

Most people do not handle it well when a serious belief is proven false.

2019-06-18 22:33:39 UTC

I changed a lot of my beliefs in the last 2 years

2019-06-18 22:33:46 UTC

It is really hard ngl

2019-06-18 22:33:56 UTC

Guyssss idk how to get out of this new memberrrr.. WHERE DO I GOOOOOO

2019-06-18 22:34:33 UTC

I believe very little that I believed 8 years ago. And I am 66. For 58 years I stuck with beliefs and would not even question was I correct in those beliefs.

2019-06-18 22:35:26 UTC

Yeah welp I'm 14 and my dad is a truther and I became a flat earthers when I was around 8

2019-06-18 22:35:49 UTC

I figured people were stupid if they disagreed. Stupid thought process.

2019-06-18 22:35:53 UTC

I feel like the odd man out lol.

2019-06-18 22:36:03 UTC

I used to feel physical pain when hearing a point against my world view

2019-06-18 22:36:37 UTC

Ppl ask me, Hey what are your believes, I say flat Earth and they just go off on me

2019-06-18 22:37:06 UTC

If ain't a BELIEF it's a FACT you NORMIE

2019-06-18 22:37:07 UTC

I so wish I had had the internet at 14. It was so limited back then. Libraries and such. I now know that what is in them is highly restricted.
