Imaginary in the sense of imaginary numbers, which is really a misnomer. They are "imaginary" only in name, but have many real physical applications. Just ask an electrical engineer about them. @Human Sheeple

@Fran They're convenient for calculus and AC circuits, you COULD also do two equations and calculate for the highs above 0v and a separate equation for the lows below 0v then summate the two, the use of imaginary j makes it easier
Yes, imaginary numbers have physical application in that way; They simplify our real world calculations.
They are not imaginary in the sense of having no bearing or applicability on physical reality
They are also very good at describing rotations
and other phenomena with physical applications
