And the inconsistencies are general relativity and quantum field theory. Gravity can't be reconciled with quantum field theory when every single other fundamental interaction can. That's why your "string theory" exists in the first place, to resolve this issue.

Well in quantum mechanics we are dealing with tiny particles on microscopic scales, gravity messes with these particles on a larger scale in general relativity. That is one inconsistency in layman terms for your brain to handle
