I agree with you governments have done a great job to control people's mind by their nonsense

well our government where im from are just as controlled as the people they 'serve' or 'rule'

however, David hum the sceptic Scottish philosopher mentioned put doubts into people because doubts broaden their mind and thinking

people need time, a fair amount of intelligence, and a dash of critical thinking to doubt what they've learnt or what's presented by the mainstream as real

'their' main task would therefore be to dampen/suppress those 3 elements , and, gathering from the experience i've had with people in general, they have achieved this task in excellence yielding exceptional results
