i encourage you to learn about nuclear radiation
The russian one is going to be for research. Still very cool, but won’t significantly reduce dependence on fossil fuels
Chernobyl had an initial death count of 100
there was also a massive evacuation in time
look, its a fact that nuclear radiation kills people and spreads everywhere and is very hard to clean up
And kyshtym
10,000 is the highest estimate
Towns weren't evacuated until 2 weeks later
You act as if reactors have no safety precautions and that they're all terrible with no modifications over time
i shouldnt be surprised that this is being debated
It’s an early obsolete reactor + intentionally disabled safety systems + error by the safety supervisor
MSRs have intrinsic failsafes and are idiotproof
Straight fax
its just very ironic that the dirtiest and most dangerous form of energy is being advocated above other energy sources that are considered dirty
Coal plants? Yeah
a coal plant accident is nothing at all compared to nuclear
and say what you wish, accidents do happen and they will
Coal and oil cause far more damage
not so far, like i said i encourage you to research fukushima and the damage it has done to the environment
I know Fukushima was bad and will have lasting environmental effects
the fukushima disaster was considered an extinction level event for all species on the planet, coal and oil got nothing on that
Wut
What
i encourage you to reasearch it more
Coal and oil are actually causing far more damage every day than nuclear ever will
By emissions alone
^
Nukes cause big damage
those are assertions without science to back them js
But in order to beat coal and oil
We would need to fire off five nukes
Nuclear meltdowns are nothing like nukes
In how they work
well, reactors are different than nukes, reactors are continuous nuclear disasters when they meltdown
i agree icy
no
A meltdown only occurs in the core of a reactor
While there may be radiation leaks, Chernobyl and Fukushima were caused by explosions due to failure of machines and build up of pressure
