If the plan was to get people to show up they successfully did it
If the plan was to get people to run out and get themselves shot... Well we know that didn't happen
in what ways did the event psychologically influence people, and which techniques were used?
It could be argued a few different ways if you really think on it
For example they could have motived people to go through the known stereotype of the base where it is believed to hold government secrets and "them aliens"
Motivation which still led to people showing up

Memes are the universal way of spreading information and how it became so popular in the first place

Or more specifically Reddit spreading it around and having them pumped out into other social medias
