and what age are you referring to by 'at a young age' roughly speaking

Being trans often is a choice. Often it is not. However, making that call before the age of 18 is irresponsible.

it is irresponsible, but including children increases profit margins significantly, as well as taking more control away from the parents. The mainstream media don't report on it the same way they don't constantly remind us about failed cancer treatments, dodgy vaccinations etc.
