@Deb65 I'm getting used to that translation. I've been KJV for the last 50 years. KJV says comprehended rather than overcome it. It's OK since the darkness can't possibly overcome if they can't even comprehend the light.

So, another question now arises. Is it a false teaching to say that unless God reveals to you your need for Him, you will never seek Him? What about predestination? What about "Jacob have I loved but Esau have I hated, before they were in their mothers womb"? Predestination is a solid scriptural doctrine, as far as I can see. Do we have a duty to present the gospel to all who will listen? Absolutely. We are to sow the seed but it is God who gives the increase.

@tjams The only Nation, called by name as a nation, to be saved as a nation, is Israel. The other references you mention are either calling individuals out of nations or refer to millennium events. Look again at Rev 2:26. Iy talks about the end and things thereafter.

Don't get me wrong, I pray that all who can be saved will be saved and I believe Jesus promised that. The United States is my home and I wish to be a truly Godly nation. Jesus also told us, however that the gate is straight and the way is narrow and there are but few that find it. We must pray that all those that are His will come to a close personal relationship with Him. Poking the bear again. What do you all think about 'church' finances? here seams to me to be an extra large push on the part of some ministries to fill the coffers. They gather large sums from people they shame into giving ("The Lord loves a cheerful giver" etc) and then you find out they have a fleet of Cadillacs and a large boat and basically live a very upscale lifestyle at the expense of the people.
