@Shadetree49 like to explain this to you sometime soon

2019-10-22 02:35:17 UTC

There is God the Father, Son is Jesus Christ. Done deal

2019-10-22 02:56:25 UTC

@QuikWit @imig Consider this alternate point of view. There is a Godhead. It is comprised of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There is also only one God. Now reconcile the two seemingly contradictory positions. Look at the timeline. In the Old Testament God was represented as the Father, presiding OVER the people. At the advent of Jesus, God came down into a mortal body and dwelt WITH the people, yet still remained over the people. John called Him the Logos, or the very essence of God. When Jesus ascended back to heaven in bodily form He sent back the Holy Spirit to live IN the people. Same God in all three forms. Just getting closer to His children through time.

2019-10-22 03:30:44 UTC

Look at Mathew 28:19 Jesus, before He ascended, commanded that new believers were to be baptized in the NAME of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. Now notice that 'name' is singular. What is the name. It is the Lord Jesus Christ. Break that down and realize we have one Lord and Father of us all. Jesus was/is the earthly name of the Son. It literally means Jehovah s Savior. The Holy Ghost/Spirit is the 'breath' of God, the life giving force.

**Matthew 28:19 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**

```Dust
<19> Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ```
2019-10-22 03:34:01 UTC
By the way, the term baptism infers a total immersion.
@Shadetree49 thats exactly what the trinity is supposed to mean, god in 3 forms. πŸ‘
2019-10-22 13:18:42 UTC
The problem with those diagrams is the same as the problem with the word Trinity. It is finite man trying to describe the infinite God. Any definition you attribute to Him has the effect of limiting Him. You're encapsulating Him in a nice neat package you can get your mind around. Think outside the box. There are no boundaries on God. Perhaps the apostle John said it best when he said that God is light and God is love.
2019-10-22 13:30:37 UTC
That too sets limits. Before there was light God was there. He spoke and light came to be.
2019-10-22 13:36:38 UTC
That was before He was The Father and then The Son and Then the Holy Ghost. That assumes a timeline but He created time.
2019-10-22 13:40:03 UTC
Does He not have those attributes within Himself and yet He is so much more.
2019-10-22 13:43:42 UTC
I must stop here. I have already, because I am finite like you, been trying to describe The Infinite God.
2019-10-22 13:52:48 UTC
He gave us his Word, set down in a love letter called the Bible, written by prophets and sages moved by the Holy Spirit over thousands of years. It's all verifiable by putting it to the test. All His promises can be attained by His children through faith. The faith He places in our hearts.
2019-10-22 13:56:08 UTC
As He warns us in the book of Revelation, don't add to or take away from His Word. It's all we need.
@clarion1 Thank you. Trying to think at this level can (if I'm not there already) drive one crazy.
@Deb65 I'm getting used to that translation. I've been KJV for the last 50 years. KJV says comprehended rather than overcome it. It's OK since the darkness can't possibly overcome if they can't even comprehend the light.
So, another question now arises. Is it a false teaching to say that unless God reveals to you your need for Him, you will never seek Him? What about predestination? What about "Jacob have I loved but Esau have I hated, before they were in their mothers womb"? Predestination is a solid scriptural doctrine, as far as I can see. Do we have a duty to present the gospel to all who will listen? Absolutely. We are to sow the seed but it is God who gives the increase.
@tjams That was interesting. I follow the Word of God, however, and I only see one NATION that He will save as a NATION. That is Israel. Among the Gentiles it is an individual affair between God and man.
2019-10-23 16:13:28 UTC
Ask of Me, and I will give the nations as an inheritance to you- ASK Of Me
2019-10-23 16:16:14 UTC
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
2019-10-23 16:17:19 UTC
Galatians 3:8
The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, β€œAll the nations will be blessed in you
Revelation 2:26
He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations
@tjams The only Nation, called by name as a nation, to be saved as a nation, is Israel. The other references you mention are either calling individuals out of nations or refer to millennium events. Look again at Rev 2:26. Iy talks about the end and things thereafter.
AFK for awhile
