NEW YORK (AP) - An heiress to the Seagram's liquor fortune has been arrested in connection with her work with a self-help group in upstate New York that is accused of branding women and forcing them into unwanted sex.
Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn announced Tuesday that Clare Bronfman and three other people associated with the NXIVM organization had been charged with racketeering conspiracy.
Bronfman is a daughter of billionaire philanthropist and former Seagram chairman Edgar Bronfman Sr.
For many years she has been involved in financing NXIVM and supporting its co-founder, Keith Raniere.
Raniere was charged earlier this year along with a NXIVM adherent, the actress Allison Mack, with coercing followers into becoming "slaves" to senior members of the group.
They have denied the allegations. Bronfman has said she had no knowledge of wrongdoing.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania's Sexual Offenders Assessment Board is recommending Bill Cosby be classified as a sexually violent predator.
The Montgomery County District Attorney requested a hearing on the report Tuesday so a judge can decide if Cosby will be classified as a sexually violent predator. No date had been set for the hearing as of early Tuesday.
The 81-year-old was convicted April 26 on sexual assault charges related to accusations he had drugged and assaulted Andrea Constand in 2004.
The report, which looks at 14 different areas to determine the status, is not public. State law requires Cosby to register as a sex offender. The classification would require increased treatment in prison and increased notification of neighbors upon release.
Cosby is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 24. A message was left with his lawyer.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - On his fifth visit to Puerto Rico since last year's devastating Hurricane Maria, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is inviting President Donald Trump back to the island.
Cuomo, a Democrat, said Tuesday that the Republican president should see for himself the slow pace of recovery and the many challenges that remain.
Cuomo has blasted Trump's response to the hurricane, saying his administration owes the people of Puerto Rico an apology. He said he will send a letter to the president formally inviting Trump to join him on his next trip.
During his two-day trip Cuomo joined college student volunteers and elected officials who participated in local rebuilding projects.
Cuomo also announced efforts to help Puerto Rico's tourism industry bounce back by marketing it as a vacation destination for New Yorkers.
