My boyfriend was and is the nice guy. I will admit it took some deprogramming on my end to be attracted to him because you are right.. women’s father wounds are attracted to “abusive” men on whatever level that may be. So, he’s the nice guy. I love that, I’m attracted to that. It really is a turn on. However, he also had to learn how to communicate HIS NEEDS. He was so used to dancing around everyone else’s it took a good year before he really started opening up about the things that are important to him. It seems selfless to not talk about our needs, but it doesn’t always turn out that way. I told him he wasn’t giving me the chance to serve him because I never knew what he wanted. He also had to start setting boundaries with me. Emotionally. Women will wreck you if they know they can. They will test and push you as far as they can to see if you’ll survive. Even “aware” women. It’s out of fear of course.. and it’s also the woman’s way of saying I don’t trust you yet. Men sometimes think giving them everything they want builds trust.. but it doesn’t always. Saying “no!” And “stop right there” is actually the way my boyfriend has built the most trust with me.
