But we’re way past that now.
Felons cannot vote. Democrats want them too though lol
JP, you regard voting as a right or an obligation ?
A privilege.
Than it's a right.
Because a privilege is a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group.
I would regard voting as an obligation.
Obligation to make the nation better and improve it, by periodically changing leaders.
Here is my reasoning:
"I have the right to live in a good and improoving society. Therefore, it is my obligation to vote. By voting, I periodically swap leaders in power to the best available candidate who are closer to my notion of societal well - being"
Obligation by whom? What happens if I don’t vote?
Why is everyone so hell bent of forcing people to do what they would do? Do what you would do. Don’t act immorally. And share the fruit of your labor as you see fit.
Obligation to my community, family, nation, so on.
The world is divided. Some us want to share our own fruit as we see fit, and others of you want to share others’ fruit as you see fit.
Ok so you mean a moral obligation. Sure. I vote. But I don’t feel it’s obligatory
“Moral obligation” is a loose term though.
Communitarian and Generational obligation
I’d say, it’s a good idea to vote, but you don’t have to. Actually you probably shouldn’t if you are ignorant on the issues
How is voting an obligation, voting is ruining the west.
Every right as a corelative obligation.
You can't have rights without obligations.
Democracy is meaningless and prevents true action from taking place
Just look at how Trump is prevented from doing anything
It's just a waste of time and resources
Taking away voting rights from people who you don't like will worsen society and lead to collapse and war.
Ignorants diserve to be represented.
I dont think democracy has done much in the way of preserving peace. Just look around. Abject failure
Democracies dont wage war against each other.
There's nothing wrong with taking away rights from people. We do that all the time. Prisoners, foreigners, etc.
So I disprove your statement.
@Yussuki ₪ hmmm yes they do. What was the 20th century if not democracies waging war against each other?
There are some inalienable rights. You cant take a prisoner's right to live or vote, unless specific circumstances.
No democracy has ever waged war on each other.
@Yussuki ₪ disagree, we do that all the time
Show me an example than 😄
And not sure what you mean because it makes no sense, just pull up any intrastate conflict from the 20 century
Most likely itll be democracy vs democracy
Unless you're saying something else
Show me one single example in which 2 democratic states waged war against each other.
