But we’re way past that now.

2020-09-22 19:09:41 UTC

Felons cannot vote. Democrats want them too though lol

2020-09-22 19:11:15 UTC

JP, you regard voting as a right or an obligation ?

2020-09-22 19:12:05 UTC

A privilege.

2020-09-22 19:12:18 UTC

Than it's a right.

2020-09-22 19:12:56 UTC

Because a privilege is a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group.

2020-09-22 19:13:28 UTC

I would regard voting as an obligation.

2020-09-22 19:13:51 UTC

Obligation to make the nation better and improve it, by periodically changing leaders.

2020-09-22 19:14:42 UTC

Here is my reasoning:

2020-09-22 19:15:51 UTC

"I have the right to live in a good and improoving society. Therefore, it is my obligation to vote. By voting, I periodically swap leaders in power to the best available candidate who are closer to my notion of societal well - being"

2020-09-22 19:16:23 UTC

Obligation by whom? What happens if I don’t vote?

2020-09-22 19:16:50 UTC

Why is everyone so hell bent of forcing people to do what they would do? Do what you would do. Don’t act immorally. And share the fruit of your labor as you see fit.

2020-09-22 19:17:21 UTC

Obligation to my community, family, nation, so on.

2020-09-22 19:17:34 UTC

The world is divided. Some us want to share our own fruit as we see fit, and others of you want to share others’ fruit as you see fit.

2020-09-22 19:17:54 UTC

Ok so you mean a moral obligation. Sure. I vote. But I don’t feel it’s obligatory

2020-09-22 19:18:12 UTC

“Moral obligation” is a loose term though.

2020-09-22 19:18:29 UTC

Communitarian and Generational obligation

2020-09-22 19:18:30 UTC

I’d say, it’s a good idea to vote, but you don’t have to. Actually you probably shouldn’t if you are ignorant on the issues

2020-09-22 19:19:06 UTC

How is voting an obligation, voting is ruining the west.

2020-09-22 19:19:12 UTC

Every right as a corelative obligation.

2020-09-22 19:19:25 UTC

Most people are stupid and easily manipulated by the media and establishment

2020-09-22 19:19:59 UTC

You can't have rights without obligations.

2020-09-22 19:19:59 UTC

Democracy is meaningless and prevents true action from taking place

2020-09-22 19:20:21 UTC

Just look at how Trump is prevented from doing anything

2020-09-22 19:20:31 UTC

It's just a waste of time and resources

2020-09-22 19:21:14 UTC

Taking away voting rights from people who you don't like will worsen society and lead to collapse and war.

2020-09-22 19:21:34 UTC

Ignorants diserve to be represented.

2020-09-22 19:21:55 UTC

I dont think democracy has done much in the way of preserving peace. Just look around. Abject failure

2020-09-22 19:22:17 UTC

Democracies dont wage war against each other.

2020-09-22 19:22:41 UTC

There's nothing wrong with taking away rights from people. We do that all the time. Prisoners, foreigners, etc.

2020-09-22 19:22:41 UTC

So I disprove your statement.

2020-09-22 19:23:10 UTC

@Yussuki ₪ hmmm yes they do. What was the 20th century if not democracies waging war against each other?

2020-09-22 19:23:29 UTC

There are some inalienable rights. You cant take a prisoner's right to live or vote, unless specific circumstances.

2020-09-22 19:23:49 UTC

No democracy has ever waged war on each other.

2020-09-22 19:24:14 UTC

@Yussuki ₪ disagree, we do that all the time

2020-09-22 19:24:22 UTC

Show me an example than 😄

2020-09-22 19:24:55 UTC

And not sure what you mean because it makes no sense, just pull up any intrastate conflict from the 20 century

2020-09-22 19:25:10 UTC

Most likely itll be democracy vs democracy

2020-09-22 19:25:21 UTC

Unless you're saying something else

2020-09-22 19:25:29 UTC

Show me one single example in which 2 democratic states waged war against each other.
