Uh me busted a huge paedophile now.

2020-09-28 16:27:51 UTC

That isn’t what I said

2020-09-28 16:29:46 UTC

I think it’s clear that people who would like to get away with X, will help make sure people who do worse than X get away with that, too.

Besides, if people can get away with worse than x, then you surely can get away with X right? (I hope using variables in a point isn’t what loses ya)

2020-09-28 16:30:54 UTC

My original point was : the religious have no greater claim to society than elected politicians or secular communities do - in fact, the religious have had their go at running societies for long enough, maybe it is time to try something else.

2020-09-28 16:31:03 UTC

Some people would like to see pedophiles get away with their crimes if that means they can get away with their own, lesser, crimes.

Isn’t this EXACTLY how many people justify terrible behavior?

Young men and women are burning down buildings. They know that’s wrong, but in their mind it’s LESS WRONG than police brutality

2020-09-28 16:31:35 UTC

Yea so, I’m not proposing that religious people run your life. I’m saying that you can’t run theirs.

2020-09-28 16:32:30 UTC

Christians are way too nice and don’t fight for their convictions. Muslims would have had you all killed already lol

2020-09-28 16:32:34 UTC

I've never met anyone who wants paedophiles to get away with their crimes tbh.

2020-09-28 16:32:35 UTC

It’s sad! But it’s true

2020-09-28 16:33:08 UTC

Californian just lessened the criminal charge for pedophilia if it’s within 10 years and of the same sex

2020-09-28 16:33:37 UTC

So a 11 year old boy and a 21 year old man is a lesser crime. Or at least, it’s being proposed.

2020-09-28 16:33:42 UTC

Bizarre

2020-09-28 16:35:57 UTC

At least it's a crime, I guess. That's progress by some religious track records.

2020-09-28 16:53:12 UTC

It’s a crime to us too

2020-09-28 16:53:30 UTC

Malachi. You can choose not to care about sin. That is entirely your choice. I am willing to accept that in order for a society to function, some innocent people must pay the bills for the ones who sin. It doesn't matter me, if it's within a reasonable limit. A limit which we can all agree upon.

2020-09-28 16:53:57 UTC

We are all sinners. Some of just constantly repent and try to do better. Others of us justify the sins

2020-09-28 16:54:02 UTC

“Well I guess if everyone does it, it’s ok!” No

2020-09-28 16:54:25 UTC

Zino, charity is different from theft

2020-09-28 16:54:39 UTC

Yea

2020-09-28 16:54:55 UTC

God pays for all sin, and through His grace, we are here at all.

So yes, we are called to give charity and to pay the cost of sin: it’s called forgiveness

2020-09-28 16:54:59 UTC

But taxes are not theft.

2020-09-28 16:55:02 UTC

But you cannot force me to forgive.

2020-09-28 16:55:07 UTC

Yawn

2020-09-28 16:55:08 UTC

Yes

2020-09-28 16:55:10 UTC

Taxes aren’t theft. It’s government

2020-09-28 16:55:27 UTC

Redistribution of wealth isn’t taxes though 😉 that’s theft, if done by force

2020-09-28 16:55:48 UTC

I want to only get rid of programs that take money from person a and give it to people b. Welfare programs for instance

2020-09-28 16:56:04 UTC

I’d rather us pay for the facility that welfare recipients must stay in, then to just give it to them

2020-09-28 16:56:19 UTC

That facility is wealth and can be used by anyone

2020-09-28 16:56:31 UTC

Who might need to rely on others to live

2020-09-28 16:57:00 UTC

The wicked believe they can force to you pay for their sins, and give nothing in return.

2020-09-28 16:57:47 UTC

Christ gave his life for our sin, and all he asks for in return is our faith. It’s beautiful if you get it. But I think many people see it as a shallow story. The symbolism is lost on them

2020-09-28 16:58:06 UTC

By Sins, you mean illegal activities which may incidentally fall into immoral behavior , as defined within a Christian framework ?

2020-09-28 16:58:09 UTC

As a man, I will die for my wife if need be. All I ask is for her faithfulness

2020-09-28 16:58:32 UTC

Sins are crimes against god, and for reasons, lead to no good

2020-09-28 16:58:46 UTC

Masturbating all day isnt a sin because it hurts others

2020-09-28 16:59:01 UTC

It’s a sin because it serves the flesh, and leads to no good

2020-09-28 16:59:10 UTC

Many people are functional sinners

2020-09-28 16:59:42 UTC

"Functional sinners" - that's cool expression

2020-09-28 17:00:15 UTC

We can repent and get rid of the sins anyway

2020-09-28 17:01:20 UTC

The difference between serving in a way that pleases your flesh vs. serving in a way that pleases god is tremendous.

God is Truth is Good. You are serving God more by flollicking in a grassy field yelling “thank you!” than you are sitting in the dark masturbating (even if you say thank you)

Actually, most people feel some guilt right after they’re done at their computer... and that’s for a reason
