@T2the2ndpowr @JCEN Hey so forgive me for my ignorance of the subject of speciation but could you or anybody else point me to evidence of a species changing to a completely different species altogether. An example would be a bird changing to a reptile. Or what i would really like to see is say a plant changing to a conscious organism. Surely somewhere in the fossil records there must be something of that nature.

thats not quite how it works

ill try and explain it

say you have a bird in africa. so that bird has two different tribes

both tribes live in the same country in africa

so one tribe of birds live in a very food plentiful area where the other does not.

so the one tribe of bird goes out looking for an area with the right food source

lets say the one tribe of bird flys and flys and then lands in australlia

the tribe has found sufficent food and will now live in australlia

now since they are in australlia they are in a totally new environment with new predators and a new climate so now they will evolve according to there new situation

and then they will then eventually after say a hundred thousand years now be something different to what they originally were a new species

thats how speciation works

when an animal splits and moves away and then evolves to there new environment into a whole new species

such as a hawk and a bald eagle

@T2the2ndpowr So I guess my original usage of speciation was erroneous. I understood this as adaptation and that speciation would like that bird becoming a different animal to survive
