I appreciate the views and inside information you bring to discussions like these @platonic chain . it's hard for me to see the public school system as anything more than an expensive corrupt indoctrination machine with 0 alternatives.
I am in a place of massive influence *JUST* because I have contact with the head of the school board, I am on the local CTE board, and am on a board at the local university for promoting STEM education in minority students.
You will find hungry scammers everywhere. The board I'm a part of isn't a private thing. It's a publicly funded research program that is seeking to find the best intervention efforts to direct students into university programs for engineering, specifically.
They'll complain about the education system but when it actually comes down to fixing the problems within the system they just *don't*. Sure they may offer alternatives but most of the time we were just told to sit and spin.
Charter schools and vouchers are a crapshoot. There's as many shitty charter schools as good ones. Hell, every year or so a racially woke charter school ends up getting outed for basically having neglected to teach kids how to read for 8 years of K-8.
My hard drive made a time stamp 40 years ago, and here I AM today with evidence (or lack therof "Higher Education") in the ranks of any Federal Government Sponsored Program.
