school's in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sumter
heck i think we may be related to him too.
@Page @LadyTigrrr I'm in mid SC. my hubby is a USC Graduate/Gamecock. I used to pay attention but in latter years could care less as I consider it an enormous distraction from reality.
I know ppl that attended Thomas Sumter Academy
📣 This just in: Pelosi: 'We have to impeach the president in order to find out what we impeached him for' 😂 🍿
awwwe Jayne...I just love my football. It is my welcome distraction from reality.
@Page Ha! My grandfather always told us we were related to Thomas Jefferson...his name was Jefferson...I did our family genealogy and guess what! Not even a drop that I have found so far...may have to go back to the 1100's! Lol!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Page just seeing this now. Yes, its going to be a closed door session.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Page My grandfather x 7 http://military.wikia.com/wiki/Thomas_Nelson,_Jr.
Any "sports" team that goes by the name of Gamecock is abhorrent to me. What, you're proud of sending innocent roosters in to fight each other bloody until one of them dies? Wow. Is that what God created roosters for? Same with dogs... sick people send them in to fight to their bloody deaths. It's absolutely sick to me.
😅
this is the place I was telling you guys about. Best Chicken in New Orleans.
LOL
@Luchadora By way of explanation, the University of South Carolina in Columbia team mascot is a Gamecock. Clemson University, @LadyTigrrr is mentioning (as well as several other universities) has a tiger for team mascot. Being both in the same state and both having hard core fans, it creates discord (to borrow a phrase) among state residents (particularly life-long residents). My hubs went to USC, daughter wants to attend Clemson, both excellent schools so I could care less about the sports thing any more. I hope that explains the subject. It's why @LadyTigrrr posted a tiger climbing out of /owning the USC football stadium.
@ʙɪɴᴀʀʏ ᴀɢᴇɴᴛ🐉🦋 do you do research geneaology?
don't have to too much 😄
@twinjayne Understood, but it still doesn't explain using the name Gamecock. That, in itself, signifies cockfighting.
@Page ….Well aren't you special (just kidding) My family comes from a line of hard workers! Lol! although we are related the Heinz family (of ketchup/pickle fame) and my great great grandfather came over on a ship from Wales with Corning (baking dishes fame) and my other great great grandpa had a bar in Scranton Pa that JFK's father delivered booze to during Prohibition, my grandmother grew up in Forty Fort PA and knew Mary Jo Kopechne and her family very well. Now my sisters have lived Verrrry Interesting lives while I just stayed here at home taking care of our elders!😉
So if y'all like watching animals fight to their bloody death, have at it. I'm disgusted, sorry.
@twinjayne sums it up pefectly...there was a period of five years in a row that didn't happen!
@Page history handed to me, family did it for me, and findagrave is good
@Luchadora using the Gamecock for a mascot is a reference to having a team of kids that are fearless and will fight to the death to win; same reasons all schools choose their mascot really
no CockFIghting is illegal same as dog fighting
I enjoy it very much. Like solving mysteries. I belong to several organizations such as DAR, UDC, etc. I'm proud of all my ancestors - ones who were dirt poor and ones that had servants.
