@Pawhuska Indeed. I grew up near Berkeley. Used to think Communists were LARPers.
Academia is rotten
Those are his natural eyebrows, I think maybe the makeup artist went a little heavier on them today to make him look more serious/sinister.
His corrugated supercilious slipped his silly
So language and tools went hand in hand - no tools no language ??? a feedback loop is common in evolution - synapses per neuron got amplified by sharing tool making behaviour
Getting into the root formation of our language is a deep rabbit hole @dumpster
sharing knowledge like this makes language a neccessity - no culture without language
I fear they want us back in the dark ages. The hunger games
I think language/tools/culture all converged at once in a perfect evolutionary storm - why only one species that developed intelligence in the whole history of the planet - US
I studied Latin
I never learned another language violet
As we currently understand communication. Just reading Latin for word roots etc. My grandfather was a scholar.
The language article failed classical critical thinking principles 1) separate fact from opinion2) credibility of source of info. One person was just speculating about the connect and is not a trained philologist. The other a socialist with an agenda
You have gained a rank @V77, you just advanced to 13 . Thanks for all you do Patriot!
Intelligence is the ultimate strategy for survival - language/tools were prerequistes for intelligence and they popped up together
I find I learn reading their writings and ideation vs an echo chamber.
Some linguists believe the first language was clicking. I think the abbreviation of our language to texting and even speaking in abbreviations could take us back to clicking.
Maybe simultaeneous language and tool use must arise synchronously TERRY - bushmen of the calihari ???
@dumpster There is wealth of research concerning the development of of porto-language development, especially proto-indo-european culture
auto- correct is killing me this morning
Well language sophisticaion must match technological sophistication - look at our language now (auto correct aside) and the tech we r using
@dumpster I was thinking of the language in “The Gods Must be Crazy.” Still exists for how many years?
@Terry Flagg - coke bottle if i remember???
@dumpster sort of agree, however substructure syntax has remained constant
*pew pew*
@dumpster yes, that movie. You know more about the people than I do.
I remember the Gods Must be Crazy. 😃
@Pawhuska OK i have no idea what a syntax is - but language learning is hardwired into humans
