SEATTLE (KOMO) - San Francisco and Portland openly admit to buying bus tickets to send their homeless out of town. But Seattle has been very quiet about it.
This week, a homeless couple received plane tickets to get off the streets of Seattle.
"People feel that I have some obligation to justify myself to them and I really don't," homeless camper Melissa Burns told KOMO News.
I saw that picture on a thumbnail for a YouTube video earlier today, but without the caption @SeekerAnon76
Burns camped on 3rd Avenue, near the Space Needle, for 81 days in the so-called "homeless mansion" and refused city offers of shelter and services.
"We can provide something better for ourselves at this point than the city can provide us," said Burns.
But, the city did provide something better: two plane tickets for her and her husband to relocate to Kansas - at the city's expense. They left Wednesday.
@brillanon Thank you for the SANDYHOOK video..... I have saved it offline and will watch this weekend.... 😃

For some reason, it seemed like Melissa and Shamrock were an exception," said William "Catfish" Rollins, a homeless street camper.
Catfish has lived in the tent next door to Burns nearly the whole time and now thinks he'd like a ticket out of town too.
"I can go somewhere," he said. "Back where I came from... the Midwest. I left my little brother behind and came out here."
And there's Rubin Smith, who just arrived in Seattle and is homeless.
"My credit card got stolen. I got robbed when I got here," he said.

bye
Smith came to Seattle from Ft. Lauderdale, a week ago. He said his friend ditched him.
"Here I am, stranded in front of the Compass Center with no way to get home," said Smith.
He went to the Compass Center because he heard it had something to offer.
"It would be a great thing if I could get a ticket to get back home," said Smith.
The Compass Housing Alliance, a contractor for the city that runs shelters and provides homeless services, paid for Burns' two tickets.
In 2016, $25,000 was set aside. In 2017 it was doubled to $50,000 for "flexible reunification or travel support" for people who have family or a job that is confirmed and documented in another city.
Smith is hoping Compass will give him a ticket home, too. He said he'll likely stay on the streets of Seattle until that happens.
Also a possible shifting the types of spraying.
