SOUND OFF! Do you agree with Father Michael Pfleger’s plans to shut down the Dan Ryan expressway in an effort to demand an end to Chicago violence?

"Besides its New York listing, RYB also has U.S. ties through its board of directors. According to the prospectus, one of the company’s independent directors, Joel Getz, is senior associate dean for Development and Alumni Relations at the Yale School of Management. Another director, Liang Meng, is a Donaldson Fellow of the Yale School of Management and the co-chairman of the school's Greater China Advisory Board." source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/russellflannery/2017/11/27/china-kindergarten-ryb-fires-child-abuse-suspect-yales-joel-getz-to-help-lead-inspection/#17e8f85c6524

Chicago’s top cop told CBS 2’s Mai Martinez the incidents highlight how bad the illegal gun problem is in Chicago.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson expressed his frustration over the illegal gun problem in Chicago where he says officers are seizing, on average, one illegal handgun per hour of this year.

“There is just a prolific number of guns out here on the streets and some individuals just don’t want to play by the rules of society,” Johnson stated.

He said that is what led to three police-involved shootings in less than 30 hours.

The first incident happened Monday around 9:30 p.m. at 79th and Yates. The 17-year-old male offender was shot by an officer. The officer says the teen pointed a gun at him.

The second incident happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 4700 block of West Fulton, where officers shot and killed the armed man.

The third incident happened around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of North Massasoit, where officers say they were confronted by an armed man. No one was injured in the shooting, but the 21-year-old suspect was arrested.

Chicago Police say weapons were recovered in all three shootings and a CPD spokesperson tweeted pictures of the three guns.

“It highlights how brazen some of these individuals are and they’re willing to confront police,” said Johnson. “There’s a lot of reasons for that but I tell you this: we can never understate the national narrative, the anti-police narrative. That’s out there and I think some of these individuals think that, that is going to justify their actions and it just doesn’t.”

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson says Chicago Police recover more guns than officers in New York City and L.A. combined.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Three officers were shot in a bizarre incident in West suburban Elgin.

CBS 2’s Suzanne LeMignot reports a SWAT situation in Elgin ended with three officers getting injured and a suspect shot and killed.

I once left a FedEx package on the counter in the women's restroom on the ground floor of a building in my town that had an FBI office on the top floor. It was clearly marked with sender and addressee and I no sooner got in my car to take it to the nearest FedEx office then I realized that I had left it when I washed my hands. Suddenly a SWAT Unit came screeching up to the front doors and the building was closed down for a bomb threat! This was in 1997. Imagine my embarrassment when the FBI guys, who all knew me, started laughing when they saw who's name was on the bomb!😳

Samantha Point witnessed the scene. She described what she says was the sound of at least 12 gunshots fired at the South Elgin condo complex she calls home.

“It shook my bed. It was so loud and scary,” said Point.

2018-07-04 23:45:43 UTC

South Elgin Police say they came to the complex for a report of shots fired late last night when they encountered 52-year-old Frank Dripps.

Neighbors said police negotiated with Dripps for several hours. Some residents living in the condo complex say Dripps told police they would just have to shoot him.

Police say Dripps shot three SWAT officers, one from the Geneva Police Department, another from Hanover Park and the third, a Kane County Sheriff’s Deputy. All three have non-life threatening injuries. Samantha Point says she heard the police negotiating with Dripps.

He said he’d been to jail and has military background and that guns don’t scare him,” recalled Point. “It’s terrifying.”

Police placed an evidence marker next to a rifle at the scene. They also removed a shotgun.

Sgt. Mike Doty with the South Elgin Police Department said, “At one point, he had pointed the scope at officers and he had shouldered it.”

Investigators also used a metal detector to locate shell casings.

Neighbor Jessica Kling says Dripps moved into the complex about a year ago and says from the times she met Dripps he seemed like a “friendly, approachable guy.”

Point says she never expected something like this to happen to Dripps from the brief interaction she had with him.

All three officers who were shot have been released from the hospital.
