EPA Hurricane Florence Update Wednesday, September 12, 2018

Danger Warning
Q: What is the status of Hurricane Florence?
A: Florence has developed into a powerful storm and is moving toward the coast of the United States. Forecasts expect it to hit somewhere between South and North Carolina on Friday. Based on the current strength, Florence could turn into one of the worst disasters to affect that area in a long time. Florence has weakened from a Category 4 to a Category 2 storm with sustained wind speeds up to 175 km/h (109 mph) due to strong vertical wind shear in the atmosphere. While Florence has weakened below major hurricane intensity, the wind field of the hurricane continues to grow in size. As it reaches shallower waters of the coast it may weaken further since it will not derive much more energy from the ocean. Nevertheless, Florence remains a serious threat.

Instead of draining the swamp, Donald Trump Jr. dove right in.
President Donald Trump‘s eldest son took to Instagram on Sunday to share a photo of himself in what he said was a “gator-infested swamp” during a weekend trip to Louisiana.
Trump Jr., 40, explained that he jumped into the murky and potentially dangerous waters on a bet. “This is what happens when someone bets me a good sum that there’s no way that the guy from New York City would swim in a gator infested swamp/bayou down in Louisiana,” he captioned the photo. “Easy money!!!”
Trump Jr. was in Louisiana for an annual alligator hunt to raise money for Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry. He was joined by girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana.

Thanks for posting news items you feel need more amplification here. I have been reviewing it for my "Biscuits with BACFA" segment on Choctaw's Patriots' Soapbox AM show. 😃
For a few minutes there, it looked as if Jamie Dimon was on a mission to speak truth to power, specifically U.S. President Donald Trump.
"I think I could beat Trump" in an election, the JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) chief executive said at an event Wednesday morning meant to celebrate the bank's philanthropy. "I'm as tough as he is, I'm smarter than he is."
Within a couple hours, though, the 62-year-old billionaire bank exec had thought better of taking on the President.
"I should not have said it," Dimon said in a statement released by the bank. "I'm not running for president. Proves I wouldn't make a good politician. I get frustrated because I want all sides to come together to help solve big problems."

Rep. Beto O’Rourke, the Kennedy-esque Democrat trying to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz in Texas, was back in Manhattan on Wednesday night for a fundraiser emceed by Andy Cohen.
Cohen, the man responsible for the “Real Housewives” franchise at Bravo, helped sell so many tickets starting at $500, the event, co-chaired by gay-rights activist David Mixner, had to be moved from the Kitchen in Chelsea to the larger Cutting Room on East 32nd Street. O’Rourke, who has been gushingly compared to Bobby Kennedy and Barack Obama, held a fund-raiser this summer in Manhattan, which drew Paul Rudd, Michael Urie and Stephanie March.
“Texans might not like the elite company he’s keeping in New York, but O’Rourke doesn’t have a choice,” said one Democrat. “He needs the money.”
Hillary Clinton will headline a simultaneous fund-raiser, hosted by uptown socialite Lauren Santo Domingo, for five female congressional candidates, with tickets starting at $1,000.

The forecast calls for as much as 40 inches (102 centimeters) of rain over seven days along the coast, with the deluge continuing even as the center of the storm pushes its way over the Appalachian Mountains.
