Apostolic Succession, hmm, I'm still unsure on it's validity

2018-11-29 16:24:23 UTC

There are verses that they use to validate it, but it's really up to how to interpret those verses

2018-11-29 16:26:15 UTC

It is

2018-11-29 16:27:00 UTC

But the line of succession, like all dynasties, has often experienced interregnums

2018-11-29 16:27:20 UTC

Also @Earl of Morrrrgantown for future qotds can you not focus on election stuff as hard

2018-11-29 16:27:23 UTC

More so on topics

I believe that the only Protestant church where the Apostolic Succession is much of an issue is the Church of England. Although they claim to have maintained the Apostolic Succession intact through the days of Henry VIII (or VII, I don't really remember), the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches do not agree with them, and therefore do not consider their sacraments valid. The Orthodox Churches and the Roman Church, although separated on several issues, recognize the validity of each other's sacraments, since the chain Apostolic Succession was never broken, despite the schisms, and all the differences between them.

2018-11-29 16:30:41 UTC

Personally, I am still undecided on that topic.

2018-11-29 16:33:01 UTC

*However*, some people say that the Apostolic succession in general is viewed differently from the Catholics by the Orthodox. It is important to be ordained by someone who himself has apostolic succession, but this ordination must take place inside the Church. The Orthodox see the Catholics as having left the Church, and so while they may have maintained valid forms, the Orthodox cannot say if they have grace or not. The same applies to the various small vagante groups that have split from the Orthodox: they may have maintained technically correct apostolic succession, but having cut themselves off from the Church are treated as any other heterodox body.

@Doctor Anon alright

2018-11-29 16:45:45 UTC

Well put👌

2018-11-29 16:47:24 UTC

Apostolic succession is real and biblical through verses of laying on hands and transferring power from the presbyteri

2018-11-29 18:18:27 UTC

Yes. I concur.

2018-11-29 18:20:24 UTC

I can agree there

2018-11-29 22:08:09 UTC

Some good input you two

2018-11-30 04:26:18 UTC

Apostolic succession is legitimate

2018-11-30 04:26:25 UTC

it just isn't in the catholic church anymore

2018-11-30 04:26:38 UTC

Papists tarnished any faith they had

2018-11-30 05:15:12 UTC

Apostolic succession does not get tarnished

2018-11-30 06:30:41 UTC

It is one of the few things within the church which cannot be tarnished.

2018-11-30 06:31:10 UTC

Or at least is set up so it is extremely hard to do so.

<@&516817984782729217> Daily Question <:PraiseGod:484196233020440586>

Is genetic modification (on humans) okay? Are we going against God's teachings?

2018-11-30 23:19:05 UTC

Genetic modification is the work of satan

2018-11-30 23:19:05 UTC

It's not okay

2018-11-30 23:19:34 UTC

It's morally wrong.

2018-11-30 23:19:41 UTC

Now for a reason.... 🤔

2018-11-30 23:19:43 UTC

We as humans should not try to play God

2018-11-30 23:19:46 UTC

Modification = crucifixion

2018-11-30 23:20:23 UTC

The atheist scientists want to destroy all morality in our world. Genetic modification on humans is wrong.

2018-11-30 23:21:51 UTC

Do you guys think there could ever be an alliance between Christians of all (or most) denominations?

2018-11-30 23:22:20 UTC

Yes

2018-11-30 23:22:20 UTC

Genetic modification? FUCK no

2018-11-30 23:22:34 UTC

Protestantism needs to disappear though

2018-11-30 23:22:45 UTC

It's by its very definition dividing

2018-11-30 23:22:48 UTC

I'm a protestant smh

2018-11-30 23:22:53 UTC

So am I

2018-11-30 23:23:04 UTC

But im considering Orthodoxy or Catholicism

2018-11-30 23:23:43 UTC

As a Catholic, it confuses me when Protestants have faiths very similar to Catholicism (for example Lutheranism)
