so you mean social media?

2018-11-16 19:14:40 UTC

e

2018-11-16 19:14:52 UTC

yes

2018-11-16 19:15:34 UTC

they're all different companies owned by corporates, they never guaruantee free speech, it's jst appreciated when they do.

2018-11-16 19:15:55 UTC

Which is why there is 2 options for them

2018-11-16 19:16:10 UTC

1. Threaten them with regulation unless they fix their act

2. Nationalize them

2018-11-16 19:16:12 UTC

@Doctor Anon The social effects are not worth it.

2018-11-16 19:16:44 UTC

Giant corporations are a larger threat to our freedoms than the fucking goberment

2018-11-16 19:16:58 UTC

nationalizing social media seems kind of contradictory since the government could censor anything it deems offensive

2018-11-16 19:17:12 UTC

not to mention several of these media giants have local versions

2018-11-16 19:17:14 UTC

youtube for example

2018-11-16 19:17:23 UTC

@Deleted User Nationalization would mean the constitution applies

2018-11-16 19:17:24 UTC

debil

2018-11-16 19:17:41 UTC

but it only nationalizes the local version

2018-11-16 19:17:58 UTC

unless you somehow find away to nationalize youtube in foreign nations

2018-11-16 19:18:02 UTC

is that even possible?

2018-11-16 19:18:21 UTC

Youtube would be owned by the government, meaning its rules applies universally

2018-11-16 19:18:35 UTC

Specifically free speech rules primarly

2018-11-16 19:19:04 UTC

Set rules, like in ToS could be established to protect free speech for non-u.s users

2018-11-16 19:19:20 UTC

what about hate speech

2018-11-16 19:19:22 UTC

Nationalised YouTube

2018-11-16 19:19:24 UTC

Hm

2018-11-16 19:19:38 UTC

there is the more reasonable side to censorship and that is to censor downright hurtful material

2018-11-16 19:20:23 UTC

@Deleted User Hate Speech isnt defined by U.S law

2018-11-16 19:20:25 UTC

it dosent exist

2018-11-16 19:20:36 UTC

the only reason why youtube sucks ass at censorship is because the moderators only work on social stuff, the company lets bots choose what is ok and what isn't

2018-11-16 19:21:03 UTC

"downright hurtful"

2018-11-16 19:21:05 UTC

is subjective

2018-11-16 19:21:23 UTC

seperate edgy kids from pshyopaths

2018-11-16 19:21:36 UTC

that's what the bot is shit at doing

2018-11-16 19:21:46 UTC

seperating joke videos making fun of politics from fucking ISIS

2018-11-16 19:22:07 UTC

Youtube has thousands of employees focused on taking down videos

2018-11-16 19:22:08 UTC

go on

2018-11-16 19:31:01 UTC

It should be left up to corporations.

2018-11-16 19:31:22 UTC

There will always be a platform that advocates for free speech.

2018-11-16 19:31:36 UTC

Just because it is not mainstream however, doesn't undermine it.

2018-11-16 20:08:39 UTC

That makes free speech niche and thus useless

2018-11-16 20:09:17 UTC

^

2018-11-16 20:14:12 UTC

The advantage of free speech is not to watch porn or produce loli, it is to allow people to know whether those in power are being truthful to them or not.
If you make it so a person speaking truth has to wait for a decade as he gets enough viewership on a small platform, you have already lost in achieving that goal

2018-11-16 20:23:23 UTC

government treading is more harmful than corp treading

2018-11-16 20:23:41 UTC

crop treading isn't even treading you can choose to use alternatives
