yeahhhh

2018-08-27 04:34:12 UTC

I'm not watching a video, already short on time

2018-08-27 04:34:18 UTC

as I said like 5 minutes ago

2018-08-27 04:34:21 UTC

I do need to leave

2018-08-27 04:34:26 UTC

I'll be back later tonight

2018-08-27 04:34:28 UTC

or tomorrow, maybe

2018-08-27 04:34:29 UTC

who knows

2018-08-27 04:34:33 UTC

whenever I feel like coming back

2018-08-27 04:34:36 UTC

we can continue then

2018-08-27 04:34:53 UTC

Or you can never come back, if you do choose to come back, leave your *implicit bias* behind

2018-08-27 04:35:06 UTC

You have an implicit bias against facts u are bigoted

2018-08-27 04:38:23 UTC

"My limited entertainment from this is gone"
Well it seems they weren't being too serious about this

2018-08-27 06:03:13 UTC

When, long ago, the gods created Earth
in Jove's fair image. Man was shaped at birth.
The beasts for lesser parts were next designed;
Yet were they too remote from humankind.
To fill the gap, and join the rest of man,
Th'Olympian host conceiv'd a clever plan.
A beast they wrought, in semi-human figure,
Filled it with vice, and called the thing a Nigger.
- H.P. Lovecraft

2018-08-27 06:10:45 UTC

oof

2018-08-27 19:54:05 UTC

If me and a man are doing equal work and performing at the same level with no variants I expect equal pay and treatment, but that’s not the world we live in and paying one person more just to “equal out the wage” is stupid.

2018-08-27 20:02:57 UTC

It's almost *never* the case that they are doing the exact equal work

2018-08-27 20:04:30 UTC

^

2018-08-27 20:05:07 UTC

And there’s nothing the federal government could do even if it were an issue on a huge scale

2018-08-27 20:05:23 UTC

Without impeding too much on other things

2018-08-27 20:13:43 UTC

Then I hear

2018-08-27 20:13:46 UTC

Muh equity

2018-08-27 20:13:55 UTC

Equality is a myth

2018-08-27 20:16:54 UTC

Equity=fairness right?

2018-08-27 20:56:03 UTC

I mean

2018-08-27 20:56:09 UTC

I'm not that serious about it

2018-08-27 20:56:17 UTC

what I said is what I believe, but I'm not, y'know

2018-08-27 20:56:26 UTC

devoted to some argument on the internet

2018-08-27 20:56:40 UTC

also, the thing is

2018-08-27 20:56:43 UTC

Equity is a component of justice, isn't it?

2018-08-27 20:56:50 UTC

regarding discrimination/unequal pay...

2018-08-27 20:57:08 UTC

a lot of that "unequal pay" comes from women being passed up for promotions, even in equal situations

2018-08-27 20:57:30 UTC

as blind studies with traditionally masculine/traditionally feminine names on the same resume have shown

2018-08-27 21:16:10 UTC

I haven’t looked at the story yet^
But even if the test was good and the info is right one industry isn’t enough to say anything is a widespread issue

2018-08-27 21:16:42 UTC

so what I think of it is that it’s wrong and the women shouldn’t be preferred to male applicants

2018-08-27 21:18:49 UTC

The point is that to me, it looks like you are trying to use state or societal power to control what normally people do, for something of which there will always be sparse evidence. It is neither prudent nor just.

2018-08-28 01:07:01 UTC

ah

2018-08-28 01:07:05 UTC

I was going off of the 2012 study

2018-08-28 01:07:16 UTC

this is stem, so I'd presume that due to efforts to get more women into stem as of late

2018-08-28 01:07:42 UTC

that there'd be more of a preference to fill in that discrepancy
