I would require people to hit a certain level on the SAT because it would both screen foreign language and it correlates highly with IQ for people who do speak english

SAT is a good IQ test

it’s also an established test

correlates very well

the issue is you can study for it

so that's really what skews it

I ofcourse did well on my ACT yeah

But that’s more on how much you prep

but I didn't have the ACT prep courses my fellow students did

I still got in the top 85%

There are certain tricks to those tests

with no studying

but no one ever taught me how to take it

I have a good example

I'm sure if I studied I could have gotten 99th

Take New York City’s SHSAT test

The nice thing about IQ tests is they're purposely made difficult to study for

and no one studies for them

On the SHSAT

if you look at income you get diminishing returns past 120 so I'm pretty happy

that's due to studying

I had a cousin who went to a really good school in NYC

with affirmative action there was still only 5 black kids at her school

They don’t have the money/time to send their kids to prep for those tests

The worst part imo is people that blame poverty for low IQ

when I grew up in poverty and know it's not really relevant besides eating lead and fetal alcohol syndrome
