He was a New Deal Democrat in a time where that was outdated

And he was not nearly as charismatic

In contrast, these days conservatives are concentrated in the Republican Party and liberals are concentrated in the Democratic Party

Which means that Democrats won't win places like Wyoming or Alabama

And Republicans won't win places like Massachusetts. There aren't really "Reagan Democrats" these days and the Democratic party is still a good fit for the whites in Massachusetts

Also, fun fact. A huge reason why Massachusetts went red in 1984 was because of desegregation busing

If the Democratic Party pushes a similar policy, the same kind of thing could happen

If you live in New York and Vermont ... Might as well push for the craziest far left wingers to be the Democratic candidates

so that in the best case scenario, a centrist Republican wins

If you live in a place like Alabama or Wyoming, vote for the most far right candidate

If a Democratic candidate is weaker and the Republican primary has only one candidate, vote for the weaker democratic candidate

There are Democrats in Virginia who voted for Corey Stewart because there's no point voting for Kaine, and they thought Freitas would be harder to beat
