No, the insinuation is that it's implausible, they assume that Trump wants to replace the income tax with tariff revenue and then say "that's dumb because spending is much higher than back when we used tariffs as revenue".

The thing is Trump doesn't want to do that.

Trump wants an even playing field either by our adversaries lowering their tariffs or us raising ours.

The WTO is a free trade organization and almost every country is a member of it.

There were lots of left-wing riots against its establishment; I wonder how many of those rioters are going to support Trump's move.
