Mike you have yet to defend any of your topics, instead you call me child and ignorant. I will just take this as a win and move on to my next challenge. Who else wants to present me with either a factual debate or moral question?
@Pinnaplia id actually like to know why it is that you support the death penalty. i have nothing against you for it, im just curious.
@eva I have done a fair amount of research on it, and the death penalty actually saves more lives than it takes. Not to mention that almost all of the lives it takes are lives that belong to criminals that don't deserve redemption or life. The only changes that the death penalty should undertake is reverting back to a firing squad as it is consistent and cheap. And it should be used more often as getting rid of hopeless criminals saves our government money so it can be used for better purposes and so a murderous criminals has no chance of ever killing again.
i suppose
but thanks for the explanation
No problem
Though I do understand why people oppose it, but if you just do a simple Google of those murdered and those executed by the death penalty, it's a massive difference. Getting rid of the penalty would make the killing severely rise so to me it's just a simple comparison of numbers and risk. Wether it is morally correct is not something I try to debate.
eh, to each their own
I agree with Pinnaplia's take on it, however I'm not convinced that the death penalty significantly keeps down murder rates
my point of view on it is that it also stops overpopulation a tiny bit
But if it does, then it may give a more positive benefit to society that could surpass the costs.
Also, the criminal justice system is improving as far as we understand it
And by improving, I mean standards and quality
So executing an innocent gets more and more unlikely
Just like escaping prison becomes more and more unlikely
yeah
i mean for me it's more moral, as i don't think anyone deserves death. i think there are worse fates.
for example, paul bernardo. a canadian murderer. he has life in maximum security prison without any chance of perole. for me i think it's about justice.
