I'm not a brainlet who does things to acquire malware

2018-09-28 07:23:32 UTC

He clearly has no idea how anti viruses work @Reviire

2018-09-28 07:23:32 UTC

You should have at least have Windows defender on and an adblock @Reviire

2018-09-28 07:23:46 UTC

Well sure, I take steps to not get those things to begin with

2018-09-28 07:24:04 UTC

Also, for the record, not all adblocks protect you from malicious ads

2018-09-28 07:24:14 UTC

Some, like the *actual* adblock only hide it, they still run in the background

2018-09-28 07:24:22 UTC

@Reviire That's a bummer if that's what happened. I don't even know what I did. :-p

2018-09-28 07:24:25 UTC

Letting ads run code was a huge mistake <:GWchadMEGATHINK:366999806343774218>

2018-09-28 07:25:19 UTC

▬►uBlock Origin + Ghostery

+ maybe No Script if ya want too

2018-09-28 07:26:00 UTC

Wow something smart

2018-09-28 07:26:11 UTC

uBlock Origin is good, it doesn't just *hide* ads because that would be retarded

2018-09-28 07:26:16 UTC

It prevents them from loading entirely

2018-09-28 07:28:47 UTC

* and use the built in "Element Blocker" too
(Block Element) - its called, on UbO

but, ....yes, ..ABP has it too, ..and can be accessed/done via Inspect Element, then you can see an "ABP" sign (icon) and block elements that way, ..but..i recommend that if you're using "ABP" ..get ▬► "Element Hider Helper" with it, ...its easier n faster etc

*but i still overall recommend UbOrigin, rather than ABP ...

Ttyl ..
.

2018-09-28 07:29:35 UTC

I don't think Ad-Blocker Plus prevents things from loading, either

2018-09-28 07:29:57 UTC

If it does work like that, you're an absolute idiot if you use it for "protection"

2018-09-28 07:29:59 UTC

I can't decode that

2018-09-28 07:30:12 UTC

@Hugh UBO lets you remove elements from webpages

2018-09-28 07:30:22 UTC

Thank you

2018-09-28 07:33:24 UTC

@Hugh Here's an example I guess

Revire is right though, mike
no one said you need to rely on an OS but antivirus is not sufficient enough

2018-09-28 07:35:45 UTC

+1 for firefox 😂

2018-09-28 07:35:49 UTC

Nothing is enough if the user is stupid enough

2018-09-28 07:36:45 UTC

css is boring

2018-09-28 07:38:16 UTC

@Hugh - me, ..ive been running my "paid" (make sure its PAID and not a "freebie") Paid "antivirus" ..also with Malwarebyte (which i hardly even use), ...and have had WinUpdates shut off/disabled..through "services.msc" ..for nearly 5 years.

also, ...use "CCleaner" ✔ .. good utility too

2018-09-28 07:39:27 UTC

sheesh I guess all those businesses not spending more money on antivirus are stupid then

2018-09-28 07:39:49 UTC

yeah they usually pay for someone who specializes in cyber-security
