I mean, I'm gonna be rocking the civil war garb with a tacticalized musket...

2020-05-20 04:14:28 UTC

I've already got a Civil War Unifom.

2020-05-20 04:14:48 UTC

Yankee or reb?

2020-05-20 04:16:24 UTC

Mainly Yank, I was cavalry. But would occasionally go Reb at some events if we needed to help even the numbers.

2020-05-20 04:18:15 UTC

I see

2020-05-20 04:18:28 UTC

I do yankee reenacting as infantry

2020-05-20 04:19:00 UTC

still working on piecing together my uniform

2020-05-20 04:20:24 UTC

Yeah, It's not a cheap hobby and I honestly have been hurt more by horses than anything else. So I don't really do it anymore.

2020-05-20 04:20:46 UTC

I did it as something to do with my dad, but I dislike horses enough to not want to get back into it.

2020-05-20 04:21:54 UTC

that stinks

2020-05-20 04:22:43 UTC

I've had a pretty good time doing infantry myself. although I would like to get my hands on a 12 pounder gun for shits and giggles

2020-05-20 04:23:39 UTC

Hahaha, you know the rule for being an artillery man, right?

2020-05-20 04:24:11 UTC

Don't stick your dick where the powder goes

2020-05-20 04:24:25 UTC

You have to weigh as much as the cannon in order to be one.

2020-05-20 04:24:35 UTC

lmao

2020-05-20 04:24:45 UTC

I don't know if you've ever even looked at those guys.

2020-05-20 04:24:49 UTC

But they're some big boys.

2020-05-20 04:24:57 UTC

I have, and you ain't wrong

2020-05-20 04:25:28 UTC

Only ever ran into one crew that wasn't obese. Really cool dudes out of Georgia, they were horse-drawn artillery.

2020-05-20 04:25:34 UTC

it's almost like they picked the most sedentary position in the hobby...

2020-05-20 04:26:27 UTC

We were doing the Red River Campaign a few years back, week long campaign. It was actually really fucking cool. And there were two crews of horse-drawn arty that we were escorting through the woods.

2020-05-20 04:27:17 UTC

dude, those long campaign events are the shit. too bad up here we don't really do those

2020-05-20 04:27:33 UTC

Yeah, I don't imagine there are many guys that do that stuff there.

2020-05-20 04:27:51 UTC

closest we get are the weekend long tactical events once in a blue moon

2020-05-20 04:27:55 UTC

Omg, so did you see the 150th Getteysburg a few years back?

2020-05-20 04:28:21 UTC

not personally, no. but I saw a few clips on youtube

2020-05-20 04:29:18 UTC

It was amazing. The charge was beautiful to see 10,000 Confederates marching across an open field, tearing down fences and approaching the Union line.

2020-05-20 04:29:41 UTC

As Cav, I was acting as a courier for that event, and I got a front row seat to it all.

2020-05-20 04:29:57 UTC

I did see that clip. I bet it was better in person

2020-05-20 04:30:29 UTC

Yeah, it was pretty awesome. It was a 3 week campaign.

2020-05-20 04:30:55 UTC

Each week was ran by a different organization. So we had little breaks in between.

2020-05-20 04:31:27 UTC

I actually almost got Trench Foot during my second week. Had to take some time to let my feet air out. They were burning.

2020-05-20 04:31:37 UTC

I think my unit is going to try to get a cash pool going so we can go out there sometime as a group and participate

2020-05-20 04:31:52 UTC

Go during the big anniversaries.

2020-05-20 04:32:01 UTC

Like the 165th or 170th

2020-05-20 04:32:11 UTC

Yeah, I think we're shooting for the 175th

2020-05-20 04:32:24 UTC

Of course, I don't think we'll see numbers like we did with the 150th for a long time.

2020-05-20 04:32:30 UTC

or something like that

2020-05-20 04:32:32 UTC

175th might have good turnout.

2020-05-20 04:33:00 UTC

remains to be seen...

2020-05-20 04:33:39 UTC

Of course, well it's getting late. And I have a big day planned with my GF tomorrow, so catch ya
