I meant headphones that plug into a radio, not themselves act as a radio.

2020-05-12 19:24:47 UTC

Can someone show me to a dual band antenna for 2m/440 that is actually resonant on both bands?

Just make sure you buy a real one, there are fakes out there that suck.

2020-05-12 20:15:31 UTC

@EDDSkitz experiencing the fake as we speak

2020-05-12 20:16:28 UTC

Oof... yeah, they reallllly suck

2020-05-12 23:32:06 UTC

Peltors connect to a radio

2020-05-12 23:32:15 UTC

Unless I’m confusing what y’all said

2020-05-12 23:33:27 UTC

Peltor comtac's can... you just need the right PTT for your radio. They make some without comms that are much cheaper, but are just electronic earmuffs

2020-05-12 23:34:27 UTC

Correct

2020-05-12 23:34:32 UTC

I got the dual comms

2020-05-12 23:35:01 UTC

What radio you have?

2020-05-12 23:35:20 UTC

UV-5T

2020-05-12 23:35:23 UTC

R

2020-05-12 23:35:41 UTC

I haven’t upgraded yet, need a recommendation if you’ve got one

2020-05-12 23:36:04 UTC

You'll need that to use peltors with civilian radios

2020-05-12 23:36:54 UTC

The baofeng radios are more than most would ever need in reality... they have other models that are waterproof

2020-05-12 23:38:39 UTC

Well it’s actually kit so I need something decent

2020-05-12 23:38:47 UTC

It’s on my list

2020-05-12 23:38:58 UTC

I’ve got a peltor ptt for my .mil radio

2020-05-12 23:39:13 UTC

I have a ton of expensive kit, still run a baofeng 🤷‍♂️

2020-05-12 23:39:33 UTC

The military radios don't need the amplifier

2020-05-12 23:40:46 UTC

Ik that’s the only reason I’m keeping the ptt

2020-05-12 23:41:13 UTC

Most people don't have nice radios that do encryption, so unless you're gonna buy a few thousands of dollars of radios to hand out, you really get no benefit from expensive radios.

2020-05-12 23:42:35 UTC

I just want something that if I go Prone it won’t break

2020-05-12 23:43:00 UTC

Well, there is another option, there is a replica if a Harris 152 out there, runs about $300, but works like a baofeng. The up side is that it's solid aluminum shell, 10 watts, and waterproof... even seen a guy shoot one with a pistol and it kept going. Takes all the real military accessories

2020-05-12 23:43:54 UTC

6 pin?

2020-05-12 23:44:10 UTC

I haven't broke any if my baofeng radios while running and gunning, and I actually do work in my kit unlike many. But I also run a kydex holster from Milwaukee Custom Kydex.

2020-05-12 23:44:20 UTC

Yeah, 6 pin... I'll send a link.

2020-05-12 23:45:35 UTC

If you get one of those do NOT buy from any other seller than that link, they all get intercepted by customs. That guy uses DHL and they always make it through.

2020-05-12 23:45:47 UTC

Sweet

2020-05-12 23:46:35 UTC

Functionally it's still just a baofeng dual band radio, but it uses different circuitry

2020-05-12 23:47:13 UTC

So it’s a 10w?

2020-05-12 23:47:23 UTC

Yeah, tested too

2020-05-12 23:47:41 UTC

Sweet

2020-05-12 23:47:59 UTC

Was thinking ab getting the b8-8hp but it that one is 10 I’ll just save up

2020-05-12 23:48:13 UTC

They even make a 117 manpack replica too if you wanna carry around a 10 pound baofeng 😂

2020-05-12 23:48:47 UTC

They take genuine thales batteries too, lasts a week using a bunch every day

2020-05-12 23:49:09 UTC

Damn

2020-05-12 23:49:18 UTC

Done a few week long training things and my buddy never changed his battery
