not sure I'm a fan of the reticle though, it's a bit cluttered
Oh I had one of those once! That’s an awesome choice man
It doesn’t do it justice, but that’s it on a Remington 5R
The reticle is much more visible than that to your eye
As far as reticles, there’s a learning curve, but the Horus/tremor style reticles offer a lot of capability over a traditional mil-dot style crosshairs
Seems like everything I've read about it is good. I think I'll start saving up for it.
Have you considered buying used?
Yeah, it looks like I'll be able to knock maybe 300 off the msrp price tag that way, but I still have to save up for it
Gotcha
The problems with being poor but not *a poor*
Hahah it is truly the worst spot
Do the mounting holes on the Remington 700 accept most direct scope mounts or is there a certain form factor to look out for?
Planning on using a single piece mount if i can
Figured this would probably be good
https://www.primaryarms.com/nightforce-a219-direct-mount-rem-700-la-885-low-20-moa-30mm-a219
Yea you can put a 1913 rail on there
Have you checked armslist?
I just briefly checked OK and there are some nice precision rifles on there
While looking around it seemed like it would be more optional to mount it directly. At least according to the spuhr website
Haven't looked yet but I won't be buying the rifle for a few months anyway
I’d check it out there’s a couple really good deals right now
Here’s a Tikka
Yeah, everyone and their dog has a 308 bolt action around here
Lmao yea same with up here
That’s what I love about armslist. You can find incredible deals. People that have to move shit quick
And the ones willing to do a BOS...can’t beat that
If the price is right I may be willing to go 308 instead of 6.5
I thought that’s what you wanted?
308?
I'd like to have something that, perhaps with the right barrel and load, can make a mile with the right person behind it, as that's as far as the ranges around here seem to go. Basically trying to get the most bang for my buck in a single rifle that I can learn with, so the two calibers that can do that while still being common enough are 6.5 creedmoor and 300 win mag. 300 is a bit hot and isn't allowed at some ranges, so 6.5 is the best all around option for me.
Damnnnnn you guys have mile ranges there?
That way if i move up from the 600-1000 yard classes to longer range shooting, I won't have to buy another rifle
Yeah there's one that i know of
Well if that’s the case then yea you should sit back and wait and make sure you spend more on glass than the rifle
It's out in the middle of nowhere an hour from me
Or get the rifle. Put something on it that’s good for that 600-1000 range. Practice that and save for the top glass
I had no problem hitting 629 with my 556
And it was just a 3-9x40 Nikon p223
So I'm looking at the Remington 700 in 6.5 because it's good enough to start with but has enough parts support to easily get a barrel that can do a mile. I'll be buying the optic first though as it's probably going to be more expensive, and more important
Sure will be
The 700 is a great choice
