Depends on the original company that built it

2020-05-06 01:25:21 UTC

Well im not confortable with used. Would a store bought Ruger AR5.56 or S&W be better they are around the same price point

2020-05-06 01:32:16 UTC

I don’t know off the top of my head which of those brands has the best track record, I would suspect S&W, but there might be some SOTAR info on it

2020-05-06 01:33:48 UTC

ruger doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to centerfire handguns or ar's. S&W makes good handguns but idk about their ar. Jerry Michulek uses one with basically all the parts replaced

2020-05-06 01:35:05 UTC

MP II is considered the best off the shelf budget AR I thought

2020-05-06 01:35:53 UTC

I tend to stick with what I know is proven, so as far as budget goes, I typically recommend aero precision

2020-05-06 01:38:25 UTC

The upper cost the price of the complete guns I was just talking about

2020-05-06 01:39:30 UTC

I'm a dad college stuident and a husband My wife and I carry glocks and have good holsters and traiining it's hard to spend alot of money on an AR

2020-05-06 01:39:58 UTC

Budget imo is bottom tier dollar but functional, so above chinese no name parts but not above PSA or anderson

2020-05-06 01:40:15 UTC

Aero would be imo the best entry level

2020-05-06 01:41:06 UTC

I built mine, used a SAA upper, toolcraft BCG, ballistic advantage barrel, then anderson lower

2020-05-06 01:41:29 UTC

So like a hodgepodge of entry and budget shit

2020-05-06 01:41:34 UTC

budget is a tad above psa and anderson. Those two are just to be avoided at all costs except for psa's ak's

2020-05-06 01:42:03 UTC

Idk, run a go/no go gauge and inspect rifle

2020-05-06 01:42:29 UTC

I’ve had 3-4ish thousand rounds between two PSA rifles with zero issues

2020-05-06 01:42:29 UTC

what?

2020-05-06 01:42:56 UTC

But personal anecdotes and such

2020-05-06 01:43:02 UTC

See some say PSA is trash others say what you said

2020-05-06 01:43:17 UTC

and the SW and Ruger are not milspec

2020-05-06 01:43:23 UTC

The shit 10.5” PSA freedom upper ate 1.5k with my fostech echo

2020-05-06 01:43:51 UTC

BIL has a ruger and he likes it but idk how much he actually shoots

2020-05-06 01:43:52 UTC

thankfully with tolerances you usually know it won't work pretty quickly, because the parts don't fit. Otherwise you know when it has a catastrophic failure and destroys expensive parts and / or your face

2020-05-06 01:43:56 UTC

I want the CHF best one I think

2020-05-06 01:44:26 UTC

You can always find someone selling uppers too on gunbroker

2020-05-06 01:44:42 UTC

I’m in the camp of get the best that you can afford

2020-05-06 01:45:11 UTC

If you want better than PSA or anderson but can’t eat the cash save up and buy the parts and put them together

2020-05-06 01:45:52 UTC

Or have someone else put them together, 10 bucks says you know someone who can put an AR together correctly

2020-05-06 01:46:30 UTC

Yeah that's what I did. I work two jobs making barely above minimum wage. I don't want a weapon that my life may depend upon to end up getting me killed when it OOB's

2020-05-06 01:47:02 UTC

just kinda bought one part a month

2020-05-06 01:47:04 UTC

Other thing is if you intend on using a gun for defense go shoot the piss out of it

2020-05-06 01:47:37 UTC

Main reason my PSAs got shot so much was because “god forbid I have to use it I need to know it works”

2020-05-06 01:47:45 UTC

I don’t even care to shoot ARs

2020-05-06 01:48:03 UTC

Well that was until I bought the echo

2020-05-06 01:48:42 UTC

That’ll make you poor fast

2020-05-06 01:48:43 UTC

if I ever end up in a situation when I have to defend myself, it'll likely be with a pistol at least

2020-05-06 01:49:12 UTC

Depends on why I get to first tbh

2020-05-06 01:49:18 UTC

9/10 it’s the pistol

2020-05-06 01:49:36 UTC

1/10 it’s 1 of the two ARs or two AKs

2020-05-06 01:50:12 UTC

I won't have my rifle when I'm out and about, going from my car to the store or my house, or wherever else

2020-05-06 01:50:50 UTC

the rifle is more of a, the world is falling apart and I need a single rifle to last through it all

2020-05-06 01:50:56 UTC

Same thats why I have a glock
