im not in pain enough to need meds, but on the other hand, im soo hungry, and can really only sip tea for now

2017-10-27 17:24:15 UTC

awh

2017-10-27 17:24:17 UTC

thats the worst

2017-10-27 17:25:51 UTC

nah, the worst is that i pointedly asked the dentist to stitch up the tooth pits - nope

2017-10-27 17:25:56 UTC

Get your body used to fat as a source of energy in addition to carbohydrates, and you'll be able to easily go more than 24 hours without eating

2017-10-27 17:25:58 UTC

it won't even be hard

2017-10-27 17:26:26 UTC

how do you do that

2017-10-27 17:26:32 UTC

i need to feign starving myself

2017-10-27 17:26:33 UTC

You can do it by changing your diet to low carb high fat,

2017-10-27 17:26:38 UTC

or you can do it by intermittently fasting

2017-10-27 17:26:56 UTC

ive got 4 wide open pits in the back of my mouth, that, near as i can figure, may take up to a full 2 years to really heal

2017-10-27 17:27:01 UTC

In either case, don't skimp on protein

2017-10-27 17:27:04 UTC

real fuckin genius, doc

2017-10-27 17:27:28 UTC

oof

2017-10-27 17:27:38 UTC

did they give a reason for no stitches

2017-10-27 17:27:46 UTC

no,. they didnt

2017-10-27 17:27:54 UTC

thats really dumb

2017-10-27 17:27:59 UTC

yeah, it is

2017-10-27 17:28:53 UTC

then again, it would seem to confirm the idea that med students who cant really hack the entireity of med school to become full doctors, settle for being various sorts of dentist

2017-10-27 17:36:45 UTC

im no doctor, but it doesn't make a dry lick of sense to essentially leave a gaping wound on a patient, weather or not it will eventually heal (and given that it's rumored that wisdom tooth pits can take a full year or longer, to properly heal, just sorta leaving it open is, imo, patently unacceptable)

2017-10-27 17:37:03 UTC

especially in a part of the body such as the mouth

2017-10-27 19:30:34 UTC

hi rebekko

2017-10-27 19:31:05 UTC

so the concept you are describing of letting an open pit heal in is called healing by secondary intention

2017-10-27 19:31:38 UTC

it's actually preferred in high contamination areas like the mouth, because if you stitched it up you'd just close it up with a lot of moisture + bacteria and it would turn into an infection or even an abscess

2017-10-27 19:32:05 UTC

so in that case it's really best to just leave it open, keep it loosely packed with gauze that's changed from time to time, and let it heal in from the bottom

2017-10-27 19:33:38 UTC

hope that clarifies

2017-10-27 20:15:26 UTC

so today an old shrink explained to me about how they used to have IQ testing in high schools and they'd try to guide peoples' career choices based on their IQ scores

2017-10-27 20:15:37 UTC

but then parents got really mad because people were being told their kids are stupid
